His  doing well in the U21s I hazard a guess he might get some minutes towards the end of the season, when the 1st team are safe from relegation!
  • That's a ridiculous goal. Most players wouldn't even have the confidence to even attempt a shot from there.

    Absurd
  • When did we last have a striker who could score such a superb goal? Mendonca, Kermogant?

Could a Premiership side stop that volley? I doubt it. Get him in the squad Jones

Not a striker but JBG scored some absolute screamers. The boxing day equaliser against Cardiff was one of my favourite Charlton goals of the last 10/15 years.

Incredible goal this. He tracked back with a perfect slide tackle before smashing it in top corner from about 30 yards. What a player he was.

I think Lookman was the player who had the best long range shot on him. Ricky Holmes scored some screamers from outside the box too.

I don’t see the point in godden, Kanu and chucks all on the bench. Having Dixon instead of Kanu would give us something different
Depends on the game I think. Dixon's still pretty lightweight, so games where he's going to get lumps kicked out of him with no protection from the ref will just destroy his confidence, and risk him getting crocked. Give him time to build himself up, as Tyreece has had to do, but use him very sparingly for the moment.

NJ said he would definitely feature this season. But don't think we'll see him til next.

Does anyone know if he trains with the first team or the U21's?

We've not signed another winger in the window, so surely Dixon will start seeing some 1st team action now, even if it's just as a late impact sub.

Would like to think he'll be involved. I get the whole giving him time but hopefully it's not been the plan to give him a year / season to settle, football is a short career he'll want to be playing sooner rather than later at some point and a year / season is too generic to just write off a whole year of someone's career. Not seen much of him but if he's doing it for the U21's then it's time to see him involved in more squads, the TC cover I would guess?

I wonder what the odds are of not bringing another Jamaican over.

I suspect if/when we get to a point where we know where we're likely to finish (so we are sure that we are or aren't going to be in genuine contention for play offs) then he'll start getting the odd game or cameo as things go.

But in neither case do I think he's going to suddenly become a squad mainstay this season.

Would really like to see him getting some time on teh bench and getting some minutes even if 10 - 15 to run at some tired defenders.

This bleating insistence that he isn't ready because of a game that happened a couple of months ago where everyone played badly is such received-wisdom guff. If he's ready or not depends on whether he can have a positive impact on the field. The signs, albeit in reserve football, are good

The u21 game tonight at 7pm will hopefully be streamed and I expect Dixon will be playing.

I said before he’s scored some good poachers goals for the u21s, but he’s not destroying teams with his pace and dribbling like some might imagine he is. I’d like to see him cause more problems for u21 defences outside the box before we expect him to do so at first team level.

People saying he is not ready because of the game against Leyton O but also need to remember the 10-minute cameo against Birmingham when he looked lively. I would like to see him more like that to have another look.

He is probably reaching a point where he should be on the bench. The problem is, who does he replace?

If he plays for the first team some of the stuff he will do will frustrate fans, and my worry is that fans will rush to judgement.
As far as I can tell Kaheim conducts himself well, is respectful, has done everything that has been asked of him so far, but is not inculcated with English football mores and culture which is almost an unconscious feature of players brought up in this country, so he can frustrate team mates as well as spectators.
Personally I would not ask him to defend particularly (though he would do so willingly), but allow him to be a bit of a progressive wild card, and allow for a certain number of mistakes.
I believe he shows the kind of promise that Lookman showed early on, but if fans elevate him unrealistically in their minds then they must tolerate any disappointments with generosity. The lad has had to adapt hugely to new circumstances, and has done so with a positive and willing attitude.
Depending on how the remainder of the season pans out I think we will get a better look at him later on. He has not been loaned out after all.

He's the perfect late sub when you need a goal, as he's raw and predictable. He will make mistakes, BUT also create something out of nothing.

Comparing him to Lookman is madness. Lookman had a man's body from a young age. He did not have the raw pace of Dixon, but could hold off grown men from age 18. Dixon is much more lightweight. Of course, with improved nutrition and training, he may well bulk up.

I'll bet you any money you want, that Dixon won't be nominated for the Ballon D'Or in 10 years time!

Having not had any real academy training he'll be pretty ill-disciplined, running riot in youth football is one thing (Kanu) breaking down defences and tracking back in mens football another.

Some late game cameos would be nice but as a real viable bench option not so much.

Reminds me of when Burstow went to Chelsea, and read comments that they felt he wasnt near their standards what with training etc. even compared with the other U21s there - As he hadn't played at a Cat.1 Academy level previously so they saw him as very raw

Think NJ is unlikely to use him for now as he's unproven and we need to win games. If our season drifts then we might see him more. My hunch is that we won't see him much, if at all, but after a proper pre season he'll be in and around it more for 25/26
