    We had Rhys Williams on loan in 2016 and he was shocking. If this guy is a dud too we should interpret it as a declaration of war by the city (is it a city?) of Middlesbrough.

    apparently he's really good and he wanted to come to us so badly he had his hilight video heavily edited so he never came out of his own half to avoid other unwanted attention  (joking - get a winger / pace man in as well and i'm happy)

    All I wanted from this window.  This ticks all my boxes: Midfielder ✅ , Young (he's 23) ✅ , has a point to prove ✅ .

    Welcome Alex Gilbert, curious to see how he gets on. Personally feel this will be one where it's either gonna work really well and we will be gutted we won't be able to get him in the summer, or, he's as useful as Fiorini. Loans always seem to pan out that way here, unfortunately, usually the latter.

    I always take positive comments from fans with a pinch of salt. Too many times I've read that a player will "walk this league" or "he's too good for that level" but it's the complete opposite. 

    One way of looking at it is if he's on the bench for Boro who could be a Premier league team next year next season, he must have something to offer. 

    The other way is he's had about 30 appearances in 5 years. Doesn't strike me as someone who is ready to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. 

    Hopefully it works well and we are gutted he won't be staying as he scores a hatrick at Wembley.

    Yes, like any signing, but those feeling super optimistic or dreadfully pessimistic are free to hype/dismiss him as the next Claus Jensen/Lewis Fiorini.

    As Morgan Whittaker the attacking midfielder or wide man has just joined from Plymouth, I assume Alex Gilbert chance of coming on as a sub for Middlesbrough had diminished so the loan move to CAFC is he can finally start to play regular as for a 23 year old he just hasn't played enough games. Either from the start or from the bench for CAFC.

    I’m relieved that this signings confirms we’ve moved away from defensive route one football using ball winning midfielders as our creative and goalscoring midfielders.

    Just hope Gilbert is up to the standard we need.

    I'm not an apologist for Andy Scott and have said I have been disappointed with his judgement calls especially his opinion on Michael Appleton and his decision not to make George 'never misses a game' Dobson a top earner at the club.
    On Alfie May that was more down to the way Nathan played him and the Luton Players connection was Jones call rather than Scott. 
    I like transparency on what injuries players have and who recommended them or signed the player for CAFC.

    Ramsey, Edwards and Lloyd Jones very good signings do you not agree ? Coventry also a decent signings and that was Appleton and Scott going for a cup of tea with the family as well as Conor playing for Micky Apples at Lincoln on loan.

    Lots of below par signings as well which have hampered our progress and Gassan Ahadme was probably signed to replace Miles Leaburn at some time which is looking a poor decision so far.

    Two of the best videos of incoming players were Chris Eagles best 20 goals and Matt Penney's attacking left side breaks as well as taking the ball with him. In reality none of the highlights on the videos came to fruition at CAFC !

    It's only odds against because of the history of our signings but surely at least until he's been on the field for two minutes can CL members refrain from slagging off our new loan signing in the warm up.🤷🏻‍♂️
