    David Coote is Gay:
That isn't mitigation for the various unprofessional things he did and in my opinion he deserved to be sacked. At 42 he has lost about 8 years of his career.

In Women's football it appears to be a 50/50 split with many of the players even having team mates as partners,  its not an issue to be gay.

Referee's would get more stick as they do anyway if they were known to be gay. You would hope it would become passe and you are judged on your perceived ability and not your sexuality.

Also one day that the few gay male footballers in the Professional game will feel comfortable to say they are gay if they want too and it's just about the football. Crowd are orchestrated by the masses so unsure how that would turn out ?

Fuck him. He's a mug who failed to keep up the standards of his profession. Now he's making money from talk shows about what a victim he is. Victimhood society.
You’re a great one for making unfounded assumptions. 🧐
Yeh, fair point. Was pretty opinionated looking at it now.

Feel more sorry for him that it's a story he's gone and got another job than I do over the initial suspension etc, which he largely brought on himself.

The only reason the papers have picked up on this Evri thing is as some sort of 'look at his fall from grace, he's now a delivery boy!' story, but as DaveMehmet says, at least he's out working and earning a living.

I know he was sacked by PGMOL and banned by UEFA but can he not go and ref non-league? Or is he done at all levels?

I mean for next season of course, as i know there's no games on now.

I wonder what colour card he leaves, if there’s no one at home?

Obviously I don't condone his past behaviour but at least he is prepared to work.

Speaking as someone who knows, the lower level don't pay that much and would need a side hustle.

I mean, even if in theory he COULD he might not want that. After everything that's been made very public knowledge the amount of abuse and disrespect he'd get from players/fans etc would be pretty horrendous even by the "normal" standards of referees.

(Which I am not for one minute condoning or encouraging to be clear.)

A man’s gotta eat - fucking leave him alone

    our press are scum
    This.
He could have easily  said he had depression and signed on for some form of benefits.
But instead he's got himself a job and is getting on with his life as best he can.

Leave the man alone he’s made mistakes like most of us have done in life. He’s paying the price let the poor man get on with his life which he is trying to do.

Fair play to him. Job shaming is a weak man’s game.

Fair play - he isn't feeling sorry for himself and has gone out, rolled his sleeves up, and is earning a living.

Agree with those saying he needs to be left alone here. To many people in this country dont have the work ethic he is clearly demonstrating - I cant help but feel the PGMOL could have done better with him tbh. He's made a mistake. Find somebody who hasnt.

This thread demonstrates to me how good the CL members are ! As others have said the bloke could just give up and sign onto the benefits bandwagon. Good on him for not doing that and I hope he gets his life back on track. The press should be applauding him

Yet again, he's been let down by some dickhead sharing a video of him!

Mugging someone off for their job is peak wanker. Never mug someone off about their job.
Genuinely couldn’t believe it when I saw it.  also, who is paying that much attention to their delivery driver.  Which implies they’ve had had to notice him prior to that drop, and then like some sort sad weirdo who revels in seeing others at a low, thinks, yeah, let’s get this on video.

Not satisfied with this probably having shared it on a WhatsApp group or whatever; thinks, let’s get hold of the gutter press to see if they think it’s worth publishing and someone gets £50 quid for breaking this huge, huge story

this whole thing sums up how backward large parts of our society are and what our priorities are.

Did he do wrong, yes.  In the grand scheme of things, is what he did that big a deal, for me, not really (I appreciate others may disagree).  He lost his livelihood over it, end of.

I would love to find who these twats are with a phone when someone is caught either doing something embarrassing or the person things this is an opportunity for a few laughs, and get them at a low moment and plaster it all over social media

of all the things the camera phone has given us, those twats that want to film someone during a low moment are the worse.

Totally agree. How one treats people in the service industry shows a lot about the type of person you are.

Also there is something absolutely horrible about a press which basically hounded this guy out of his job by publishing story after story, day after day, now mugging him off for the job he has managed to get after their vendetta.

It's like me stealing your wife then mugging you off because your new girlfriend is ugly.

He made mistakes,he has been punished,is he now condemned for life ,the guy is trying to earn a living.Give him some space and at some stage let him back into the fold,we need decent referees, what he did is not worth a permanent exclusion from the game.

The sooner the likes of the Mail, Express, the Sun, Mirror to name but four go out of business the better. Unfortunately the old press has been replaced with others formats which have an even bigger reach into peoples lives, thanks Musk, Zuckerberg, others, who really let things go so they can be what they want to be, but sod the consequences.
Cootes got himself a job as a delivery job for Evri, probably the most gig job of the gig economy and some tosser feels the need to share the footage from their door bell on Instagram. Give the man another kicking if it makes you feels good.
I noticed 21K people "liked" the post, what a strange world we live in, when doorbell footage of a man delivering a parcel is worth posting to the world. I get  what he did and what got him reduced to where he is today but there really is more news worthy stories out there. Either you let people who do wrong back into society or you can pay for them to do nothing. Either way they shouldn't exist for the amusement of people who think they are morally superior or think have really made it in life because they have a Ring doorbell and mastered the ability to use someone else's app.

Assume it was a Ring doorbell, but still, your point stands.

Yeah, I thought that actually whilst posting.  But regardless of the way he was filmed, can you imagine being that much of a twat that you've circulated it
