No, if we lose a game then it must be followed up with hysterical overreaction, vilification of at least one player and people declaring that they won’t go to a match again until Jones is sacked.guinnessaddick said:The important thing is if we lose a game, it must be followed up with a win.12 -
I still think it’s highly unlikely. Yes we’re very much in touch which a few weeks ago I didn’t think was possible but let’s be honest, we’re not a very convincing team despite our recent run of results. Two days of the window to get in a couple of players that might help tip the balance but I think we’ll fall short. I’m still thinking 9th2

Or the other teams in this division not actually being that good.WillmoreTheRed said:It's a big IF - I'm of the opinion it is completely doable but we'd need luck on our sides regarding other teams and we'd need to be very very consistent til the end of the season.0 -
Still no for me. However i have had the shit kicked out of me by Charlton over the years...0

When you have a few teams in the Championship who can spend 5m+ on players these days, we'd certainly be up against it.se9addick said:
If this squad was in the Championship we’d get battered. I like watching Championship games on TV and the thing you notice is how quick the pace is - I think we’d really, really struggle.PrincessFiona said:
But are we anywhere near the level needed for the Championship? Surely just by getting to the playoffs or even just missing out demonstrates to the owners that we nearly have a squad for the Championship?se9addick said:
It’s not about just getting into the playoffs, it’s about winning them. For that having as much momentum as possible would be beneficial.Exiled_Addick said:
Actually, we don't. We have 21 points from the last 10 games or 2.1 pts per game. That'd be another 39 or 40 points at that rate over the rest of the season. 83 points would have us closer to 4th than 6th. We need to keep this going for a few more weeks to get fully back into those top 6 places, and then we can hopefully come off the gas a little and maintain our play-off spot for the rest of the year. I don't think we'll be able to maintain over 2 points per game for the rest of the season, so we need to make hay while the sun shines.SELR_addicks said:First time after a period of games where I've thought that we could just about manage it.
Obviously need to keep this form up for the rest of the season.
And then hopefully they will see it is worth that extra investment, as so nearly there.
If we finished half way or lower, they might consider the investment needed just too much
Now of course I think we’d invest if we were to get promoted, but beyond Lloyd Jones, Small and maybe Miles I’m not sure how many more of our current squad could be starters in the Championship if we want to survive.
I don't think we'd be battered though, as we'd obviously strengthen. We also played reasonably well against Preston who are a perennial mid-table Championship side.

Jones has brought that on himself .se9addick said:

Like I said, if we got up I think we’d invest but I’m not convinced we’d strengthen sufficiently.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I don't know the reason why but the January transfer window actually ends in February this season.ShootersHillGuru said:I still think it’s highly unlikely. Deadline day is Monday 3 February and it closes at 11pm.0 -
The Opta Analyst site has moved our chances up to 28% after these last couple of wins. That will obviously climb further if we can maintain the form that we've discovered over the last ten games.ShootersHillGuru said:I still think it’s highly unlikely. Given all our home games against weaker sides and that we now require 32 points from 19 games (to secure 75) I'm minded to go to the bookies before the odds drop!1 -

I'm not convinced. I don't think our midfield is strong enough.0

Will we make the playoffs?
I think we will at some point…..but whether or not we stay there until the playoffs themselves is another question.0 -
We will if we have a good transfer window.0

Tighter than Katie Perry's ****0

Next round of games - Stockport V Barnsley and Huddersfield v Reading. Orient and Wrexham both not playing.2
-
could have been sitting nicely on 46 points, and looking to take on hudders and stockport0

We've already turned an 8-pt gap that Barnsley had over us, into a 1-pt advantage over these last four games19addickted96 said:could have been sitting nicely on 46 points, and looking to take on hudders and stockport
On that basis its ridiculous alone to be worrying about the Final League table at this stage.5 -
Disappointing not to get the 3 points but not a disaster given the results around us.3
-
Two home games up next. Get four points from those and the top six charge remains on.
One defeat in 11.4 -

Orient's winning run coming to an end is good news, even if it is to a playoff rival, as it ends the incredible momentum they had.3

75 being the mark doesn’t look that ridiculous right now when considering points per game.ForeverAddickted said:

One defeat in 11.
Multiple teams in and around the fringes with 44 points from 28 games (1.57 ppg). Making the points total target lower at just 73.
75 points from 46 games would be 1.63 ppg. It’s possible/probable that one or two teams go on a mini run between now & May and the target jumps by a couple of points but I can’t see it being anywhere close to 80 now.
18 games to go, 31 points required.
11 wins
10 wins, 1 draw
9 wins, 4 draws
8 wins, 7 draws
7 wins, 10 draws3 -
Huddersfield right in it now so we have three places to play for as it stands. A number of other clubs being in and around it is a challenge but we have as much chance and anyone.1
-
Need results against the teams in and around it, we’ve got some great momentum at the moment1
-
Win next weekend against Stevenage and we’ll be top six guaranteed - Orient aren’t playing because of their cup tie.2
-
But then the table wont be a true reflection...Callumcafc said:Win next weekend against Stevenage and we’ll be top six guaranteed - Orient aren’t playing because of their cup tie.2 -
It won’t be as easy as it perhaps looked a couple of weeks back - they’ve come into a bit of form. Stevenage have now won three in a row including away at Barnsley and Wrexham.0
-
Just keep picking up points, it don’t matter what the teams around us do, we just need to keep picking up the points,3

1 point from the last 4 games is a puzzling slump. Maybe losing Helik has been more significant than the 2 strikers they signed?MuttleyCAFC said:Huddersfield right in it now so we have three places to play for as it stands.
