Just realised Newcastle, Villa, wolves and Leicester all still in.  The only PL grounds I have never visited.  This is the year I reckon.  Leicester last 16, Villa last 8, Newcastle Semi final please, with Wolves to be relegated  🤣

15 games on that list that probably rank more likely to be a tv game than Preston or Charlton v Wycombe unless we sign the current equivalent of Allan Simonsen in the meantime…

Concentrate on tomorrow. Don’t have extra time it will knacker us for Rotherham, but otherwise practice penalties.

I could well be wrong but with the shorter turnaround time to Rotherham, i expect Jones to now name a slightly different lineup than if we'd played on Saturday and had 1 week to the next game.

Possibly but coming out of January and the New Year rather than playing too many games which is the norm, we seem to have played too few. He might want to get game time into the first team and make subs later in the game.

And on another note I think the way the draw is done needs to be rethinked. I noticed (and said on here) that when the 3rd round was drawn the people taking the balls our of the "hat" weren't really mixing the balls up enough. They get told to "give the balls a stir" and all the do is swirl them around. You can see the balls just moving around the bowl without really changing places. It actually needs a hand (or two) to actually grab the balls and give them a good mix.

Iirc about half a dozen balls in the 50's all got drawn together.
    Golfy talking total balls SHOCKER!!

I'm not at all sure the Welsh wonder joins up his thinking that far
I've got more money on him sending out a barely changed squad match after match and flogging everyone until they actually breakdown

3 games away in succession all in the North West in January is about as tough as it gets

I was hoping that on Saturday we would name an unchanged side again and really tried to get a result but now it is Tuesday Im hoping we make alot of changes as Saturday is far more important, we need to try to keep the league points coming
  • Was obviously disappointed in the draw at first but don't see it as bad as some are saying.

Think we'll end up losing tomorrow night anyway so avoid the disappointment of missing out on a decent draw if we do lose.

Also can see someone getting Matt Bloomfield from Wycombe (think he'd really suit Luton). With them losing some key players who have been recalled and potentially with a new manager I think it's very winnable.

If we get through and play Wycombe at home, I'll probably combine it with a trip to The National Railway Museum in York to make a day of it

To anyone complaining about having a cup match to play between league fixtures, have a read about a time when we didn't have to put up with pussies moaning about it, and worse still, getting their way.
    RIP : The Replay
    https://www.theguardian.com/football/that-1980s-sports-blog/2020/feb/04/arsenal-won-fa-cup-four-replays-sheffield-wednesday
My dad, a big Arsenal fan decided last minute to go to the third replay at Filbert St and I went along with him. We drove down from Stockport with no tickets because the attendance for the first replay at Leicester was 25k ish and the second replay attracted under 20k.

We were walking to the ground a good 40 minutes before ko and was wondering why so many fans were walking in the opposite direction. We started hearing rumours that the gates had been shut but carried on anyway as we thought it unlikely but we actually could not get anywhere near the ground, there were thousands locked out.

The attendance was just over 30k which was Filbert Streets capacity back then and I swear the same number were locked out. I never did get my head round why every man and his dog decided to turn up for what was the 5th game between the clubs in such a short space of time.
I suspect the fact that it went to a number of replays made it more of an event. I've no interest in Arsenal, Sheffield Wednesday or Filbert Street, but I can remember everyone talking about that series of matches because it seemed so incredible. I guess a lot of people went along because they wanted to be able to do the Max Boyce thing and say, 'I was where'. It'd be interesting to know what percentage of the crowd were Leicester fans.

It does seem mad though how easy it was to just walk up to big matches in those days. I remember as late as 1991 accompanying a friend to see Arsenal at home on the last day of the season, when they were picking up the trophy for winning the league. Just paid at the turnstile and walked in, no problem.

Maybe the January transfer budget is directly linked to prize money in the cup and therefore wining Tuesday is important?

We have bigger fish to fry, lose to Preston.

We avoid injuries and fixture backlogs.
This is a total nonsense. We are a mid table team. If ever we could try and go on a cup run, it's this year.
All about opinions of course, but I believe we have more chance of getting into the play-offs than the 1/4 finals of the FA Cup.

It's dull but on the unlikely chance we won both we would be in the last 16 which would be quite exciting.
Have to disagree there.  A cash injection with a plum away draw would be nice however.
The league is all that matters.
  • Blimey, the Millwall pitch is as bad as ours (ITV4).

I'd forgotten that Macaulay Langstaff had joined Millwall, as he was a much sought after lower league striker when he was at Notts County, but hasn't stepped up.

5,625. Did bromley probably take more to Newcastle than Millwall took to Millwall?

Don't get into that, we'll have about 4k tops if we beat Preston and play Wycombe
