If you’d asked me a month ago I’d have said no chance but now……. Well just maybe 🤔
how many points needed? Well apart from one oddity a couple of years ago when 6th place was 83 pts it usually mid 70s.
Having accrued 34 pts from 23 games playing absolute dogshit most of the time, surely not beyond the realms of possibility to achieve over 40 pts from the next 23 🤷🏻‍♂️

If we have a good window then I think we will. That means keeping Jones and Leaburn, plus adding 2 or 3 good players in areas we are short. In particular some more pace and trickery in the squad so we aren’t so reliant on TC and Small

I’m not massively confident we will add the right players, so will end up 7th-10th which would be a solid foundation to build on for a promotion charge next season

I appreciate I’m in the minority but I think we will. This season still has a long way to go. If we can keep out performance levels on par with the last 4/5 games we won’t lose many. I think there are 2or 3 teams above us that will drop off over the whole season
  • The problem we have is that it is hard to see the likes of Birmingham, Wycombe, Wrexham, Huddersfield & Barnsley falling out of the top 6….leaving only one place to play for (with a lot of strong contenders like Bolton also very much going for that last spot).

We should be able to get above Reading, Stockport, Orient and Mansfield. The first 2 will be weaker after this month, the second 2 I’d be surprised if they can keep up a play off charge.

Bolton are a good side but are not a happy camp at the moment with fans divided on Evatt. Things are pretty toxic there and that will continue anytime they drop points

Our 2 games in hand (both very winnable) being won would put us right behind Barnsley but they are on a bit of a roll at the moment

I think sneaking 5th or 6th is very doable, but us doing our bit is where there are doubts

    I give us a 20-25 % chance .
  • Not for me. We’ve got to play 7 of the top 10 sides away from home. Would need to be very consistent at home and get some big away wins.

Never say Never,  Birmingham and Wycombe look nailed on,  but all the others are capable of poor spells so keep winning and cross everything.

We’ve also got to play most of the poorer sides at home .

at exactly the halfway stage it seems the appropriate time to ask the question

But there's a whole transfer window. If nobody signed/sold anyone I'd stick £10 on us making the playoffs, but after the transfer window is done we'll have a better chance of an educated guess.

Ramsey back, keep Small and L Jones, shift a bit of deadwood and maybe strengthen where NJ wants then a possible shout. This window will display the extent of the upper echelons ambitions.

Got to believe haven't we. Important month this one to keep in touch with the pack. I think we can do it.

We can do it. But it will take a second half of the season that’s stronger than the first half.

From the last 23 games, we need seven additional points more than what was accrued in the first 23. That will give us a strong chance at top six.

As long as we don’t go on another run of 6 points from 9 games like we did from Blackpool in mid-September to Huddersfield in mid-November then we have a chance.

To do it we need to keep our best players, keep our best players fit, add 2/3 real additions of quality (LCB, AM, FW) and hope that other teams fall away. I sadly think that these are things unlikely to happen for us so I think we’ll only make 8th to 10th. Lose Lloyd Jones and I think we’ll be closer to 18th than 8th.

It’s so frustrating as I think a few decent signings and we could really compete but again it could be argued that our SMT consistently leave us a few decent signings short.

I think we can, but it's unlikely. A strong January would increase our odds, but they've already played that down..surprise surprise.

Either way, if we keep the nucleus of this squad, and build on it, sign up all the important players, get rid of all the chaff, and, finish the season strong. I'd be content.

Jones has proven me wrong, he's improved us defensively no doubts, and I think if he had better players at his disposal, we would see more goals. I still haven't changed my mind and think the football has been crap, but recently he's shown he can do for us what Paul Warne did for Derby with a bit of time, and I'd honestly take that.

    I reckon 20% chance we sneak play-offs

Realistically no, although if we can show real progression between now and the end of the season, that will hopefully set us up for a serious challenge next season. The change of tactics has led to a major improvement but I fear that the poor performances and ineffective long ball tactics during the first four months of the season have left us with too much to do.

We have some very good players but not enough of them and the squad lacks balance, an issue which I fear we won’t be able to rectify this month.

All we can do is to keep trying to carve out good results and see where it takes us.

I think we’ll miss out but won’t be far behind.

I don’t have much confidence we’ll make enough of the right signings, keep our key players and avoid too many injuries.

The summer could be different but we could be without Jones, Leaburn and Small by then which only makes building on what we’ve got in place even harder.

As I said in the post match thread think we have left ourselves a bit too much to do. Think we will miss out by about three points. That awful run of 6 points from 9 games has done for us. The dropping of two points at Oakwell was crucial too. It’s not impossible but it’s going to be a tough ask.

I doubt it. But I imagine we'll come close enough that Jones won't be under any real threat of losing the job. He's done enough good things in between the bad runs that his job is probably secure for another season at least.

Many of you still refer to the poor run having ruined our chances but as I see it, even with that god awful run we amassed 34 pts in the first 23 games and with another 23 to go surely it’s not a stretch to think we can do much much better. If much better means 10pts more then that’s 78 which most seasons is plenty to finish 5th or 6th
