    My wife gave me the gift of time this morning!

    I usually get up, prepare our breakfast and the dogs’ , take them for a walk and then sit down and eat breakfast.

    This morning my wife made me breakfast in bed, fed the dogs Nd took them for a walk while I had a morning off! Feeling good!

    Had a poorly hen brought into us yesterday so been giving her a bath as she was covered in shit.

    I had the Christmas Ulster fry last night, a family tradition of having a big cooked breakfast as the main meal on Christmas Eve.

    Woke every half hour throughout the night - repetitive delusions / dreams - at 7am sitting shivering on my bed til my other half insisted on taking me to hospital.  All to do with blood sugars and steroids.  Got back at 1pm and fell asleep til around 4pm.  The shittest Christmas ever.

    Not really for this thread but didn't want to start a new one and it is food related...
    Does anyone go to the Smithfields meat auction on Christmas Eve?  Did it last year and this with the kids.  They loved it and we ended up coming home with a fair amount of meat both times, although this year was busier and a lot more expensive I thought.

     I work over the road. Have been a few times but not recently l. Where do they even do it now? They used to do it from the derelict west end of the market but that has been commandeered by the Museum of London.

    It's just a bit of fun and a piece of London history I thought my kids would enjoy, not a hobby. 

    Both my kids enjoyed the atmosphere and bidding for stuff and last year we ended up with a sirloin strip cut into 17 very thick steaks for £40 plus a couple of free ducks and a hind of lamb for £30, which was not too shabby. 

    This year prices were a lot more but you could have picked up a very large turkey for £20 which would have cost £80-100 in a butchers.

    I doubt I will go back a 3rd time but it was a fun morning on Xmas eve.
