Very sad news. Charlton author and lifetime Addicks supporter Richard Redden finally lost his battle with vascular dementia and passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

I remember the first time that I became aware of him, it was the fans meeting at the Valley Club when the fightback against leaving The Valley began.

RIP Richard. I met him at a book signing at Hall Place and had a great chat with him. He was not only very knowledgeable and passionate about Charlton, but seemed a lovely person too. His book is great, by the way!2

Remember meeting him with my late Dad when he signed a copy of his book for us.
Another sad loss along with Kevin Nolan.

I remember seeing his The story of Charlton Athletic 1905 - 1990 beaming out at me in a shop window in orpington high street as a kid and going straight in to buy it for my dad for Christmas and that memory is sparked when I've since seen it on my old man's bookshelf on occasion in the decades since.
