Former ref David Coote - charged with possession of CSA material (p14)
Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended after a video allegedly showing him making derogatory comments about Liverpool and the club's former manager Jurgen Klopp was circulated on social media.
Refereeing body PGMOL says the suspension comes into force with immediate effect and is pending a full investigation.
The video, widely shared on social media, has not been verified by the BBC. It is unclear when it was filmed or its authenticity.
Coote, 42, refereed Liverpool's 2-0 win against Aston Villa on Saturday. He is one of the Premier League’s most-experienced officials and has been refereeing matches in the top flight since 2018.
The video being shared appears to refer to a Premier League match that Coote officiated between Liverpool and Burnley in July 2020, which finished 1-1.
Klopp criticised Coote after the match, saying the referee failed to give fouls for challenges made on Liverpool's players.
PGMOL says it will not be making further comment until its investigation is completed.

The only thing he has done wrong is film it. Have that conversation with his mates in the pub and he is right!2

There’s something really odd about that video7

First time I've seen a referee give abuse back (and privately, didn't know it would go everywhere). And he's been suspended immediately.
If only managers and players got the same level of scrutiny when they said stuff...
Who would be a referee?12 -
That's the problem in this day and age, can't even tell the truth without being suspended from work.

If it's real, then he needs to be giving his mate the red card.7

If there is one brightside to all this, he will be banned from the Arseholes Republic of Scouse for life!1

Looks like a hostage video and he’s being forced to read a script3

He’s definitely off his face, he’s admitted it’s him now0

Why you saying this he'll probably be assigned to a Charlton game at the Valleysoapy_jones said:If there is one brightside to all this, he will be banned from the Arseholes Republic of Scouse for life!

He looks/sounds totally off his face which might explain why he was naive enough to let someone film him. It’s not even like it’s a discreet recording, someone is clearly filming him and he clearly knows it.
There will be lots of faux outrage at this and clearly if it is him then he has made a really poor decision, but let’s not pretend footballers, fans, managers etc don’t say worse to referees.5 -
Bloody hell…if he thinks Klopp gave him a hard time, wait til he gets an earload from Nathan after another shite performance from our lot!!!! 🤬😱🤦🏻♂️😂JustFloydRoad said:

TBH it means he can't ref their games now or every decision will be picked apart even more, but they are allowed to dislike managers and players. He can still be fair to LFC whilst disliking their manager and the way his players behave. His real mistake is voicing it and allowing it to be recorded.0

Is what someone from any normal club would probably say... Or ever how it would be treated even if it was one of the other 14-clubs in the Premier League - However as this is regarding a team from the top six, it'll get blown entirely out of proportion.Notts_Addick said:He looks/sounds totally off his face which might explain why he was naive enough to let someone film him. Doesnt help that we're not into another International Weekend, so there is bugger all to talk about domestically - Reminds me of when Bobby Madley made that private comment (Was it about someone disabled?), comments werent even made directly to the person he was talking about, and he got hung, drawn and quartered over it, with some horrible rumours added to the mix as well about him.
The one bonus Coote can take is that Madley was eventually able to restart his career as a Referee.
Worst case the Premier League should just stop him taking part in any Liverpool games, be quite funny when it gets to the point that they realise no one can officiate their games (Dont the Scousers have massive issue with Tierney too?) - Still wont be their fault though0 -
What grassing prick the guy is who a) filmed it, he's clearly off his nut and relaxed around someone he has been stupid enough to trust and share an opinion
b) sent it out and shared it, because God forbid 2 people have a conversation or interaction without some dickhead filming it.30 -
If a referee has a reputation of hating (or loving) a team, then it still causes problems when he's refereeing other games. What happens if he gives City a soft penalty, will he be accused of deliberately helping Liverpool's rivals?ForeverAddickted said:

Weird that it's only come out now, 4 years after the original incident.Carter said:What grassing prick the guy is who a) filmed it, he's clearly off his nut and relaxed around someone he has been stupid enough to trust and share an opinion

My work keep banging on about how we should encourage people to "bring their whole self to work". This sort of thing is why I never would!11
