  • Bit like Andy Hunt against Coventry that day - We're very quick and easy to berate performances and whether someone has the talent - But realistically we have no idea what is going on with them.

Seem to recall he was great that day and got his goal as well so not sure anyone was berating him! Mind you, it was a quarter of a century ago… your mind plays tricks

He was barely involved, and looked bereft of fitness hence why he was about to be subbed, and was subbed straight after scoring - Its a game I'll never forget as wondered what on earth was wrong with Hunt myself, for him to be playing that way.

Of course it transpired that he had fatigue syndrome.

Both Ahadme and Hunt have had their hidden reasons for putting in poor performances - But fans dont see that, so instantly think that Footballers are simply shit, dont care etc.
    A great trivia question...

"Who's last act as a professional footballer was to score a goal in a Permier League game?"

I doubt he’s the only person to do this… Chrissy Powell even managed it for us in the Champ

Hunt had a body of work behind him to forgive one poor performance , 2 divisions higher ..

Its all Footballers though... Too many fans act like they're robots, like their large wages can solve any problems and simply make them play to the best of their ability.

When the reality is, none of us have any idea what is going on behind closed doors in their lives - Its none of our business to know.

But yeah X player is just shit in general!!

I mean we can only judge on the information in front of us ffs, are you saying you are never allowed to pass judgement on a footballer in case there is some underlying unknown issue going on we have no idea about, however shit they are playing?

Plus surely this chest issue presumably was only relevant to his last match, not the 7 or 8 prior to that?

Not saying that constructive criticism is a bad thing. Yet equally there needs to be a greater degree of thought that goes into it.

If any of us (me included) have posted on the Bristol Rovers match thread with comments along the lines of "Thank god Ahadme is off, he's looking shit" - Well we look pretty stupid now dont we?

I see absolutely no parallel with Hunt and Ahadme. I will be only too pleased if one develops.

Why do we look stupid now, our most expensive signing this season has so far had a stinker, he has scored one in the correct end and one own goal.

He scored against a National League side yesterday so we could argue he has found his level.

From what I’ve seen so far he is dross and one goal against Southend doesn’t change that.

The parallel I'm drawing is that both have had health issues going on in matches, and we've had no idea what was going on - But we as fans still feel confident to make assumptions on those performances.

I see you just choose to read a portion of what I wrote?

What I wrote, was if people said at the time, that Ahadme was having a shit performance against Bristol Rovers, then they look stupid because he clearly had something wrong with him, hence the hospital visit.

But that's never going to happen and I think that should just be accepted. It's a football forum, and at the end of the day, some people will post with a lot of thought and some will just vent and some will be inbetween. This site is a lot better than most, even.

The truth is that it's all the same, it doesn't affect anything. Opinion on this site has frequently not reflected the views of the wider fan base.
  • Mate he had been shit all season!! Nobody looks stupid cos he was indeed having a shit performance and it was good he went off (but also sorry to hear he’s got a nasty chest infection)

next time I fill in my player marks thread I’ll be sure to caveat anyone I rank less than 7 with a disclaimer that I hope they weren’t feeling under the weather in which case I reserve the right to amend their rating to 9

He went off pretty soon after the chest injury if I recall correctly so don't think you can blame his poor performance up to then on that. And I say this as a defender of Ahadme to date.

From what I’ve seen so far he is dross and one goal against Southend doesn’t change that.

I see you just choose to read a portion of what I wrote?

If people said that Ahadme was having a shit performance against Bristol Rovers, then they look stupid because he clearly had something wrong with him, hence the hospital visit.
I am not singling out the Bristol Rovers game, he has been crap in every game, I can’t name a good game
So you're going to ignore the facts as to why he potentially had a shit game against Bristol Rovers then
If he has an excuse for being shit against Bristol Rovers good for him, what’s his excuses for the rest of the games?

I’m hoping he’s coming back at a good time. I think we’d all agree he’s shown nothing really yet this season to be considered a starter ahead of Leaburn but with Leaburn being out at the start of the season he’s had to start every game without great effect.

I think, similarly to Berry, he’ll look a different animal coming on against tired defences to replace Leaburn. We signed him for his physicality and energy and that will be far easier for him to impose on an opponent in the last 20-30 mins of games. Hopefully he can then use that to build his confidence up. There’s no denying that was an excellent finish.
