An abomination of a tournament that has no place in either professional football or the match record of any club that has to participate in it.cafc999 said:The EFL sold out
If it were my club and I was loaded, we’d be fielding our U 21’s, taking the fine, and stating publicly that the result would be expunged (great word) from the clubs 1st team records.9 -
That made me chuckle 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Chizz said:Love the new range in the superstore

I should imagine Chelsea will sell out - they won’t want to miss the opportunity to see Danny Hylton live in the flesh.20

It's a condition of our current level. I don't recall people moaning about it when we were in the Premier League.SporadicAddick said:

I wonder if the current naysayers would turn up if we made the final?0 -
that would be because it’s a totally different competition to what it was back thenPopIcon said:

It will be when the club announce tomorrow you have to buy a ticket for this to get a Southend one.7

As soon as we were relegated in 2009 we have had people moaning we should not be in it, even when it was just League 1 and 2 clubs.fenaddick said:

I just fundamentally think the idea of a cup for L1/L2 is a silly one. Basically no one takes it seriously until the semi’s and players don’t need the extra games. Sure it gives young players a debut but it’s against other kids and peripheral figures so the benefits aren’t greatJohnnyH2 said:

EFL Trophy has existed in some form since 1981, its just the Premier League teams that are a recent additionSporadicAddick said:

100%. Having them in it makes it shit. I don’t actually think an U23 team has even gone very far in the competition?cafc999 said:

What feels ridiculous is the fact there is a second competition that has started between National League, and U23 teams... Just scrap that, have the best 16-teams from the National League in the EFL Trophy and you're laughing.
National League teams took part between 2000-01 and 2005-06 so wouldnt be anything new3 -
I think you’ve just given the club a solution of how and when to sell the tickets…Fortune 82nd Minute said:It will be when the club announce tomorrow you have to buy a ticket for this to get a Southend one.0 -
It's our only real chance of silverware and i'd love a day out at Wembley.cafc999 said:

The U23s do under value it, i think years ago the efl would invite non-league teams. I'd rather see Scottish teams involved.1 -
And that’s what makes it a different competition. Before it was a competition for the first teams of football league clubs. The addition of the kids teams of the Premier League is a patronising affront to the professional game.ForeverAddickted said:

League one and Two from England plus some Scottish clubs would certainly add more interest than the present set up.PopIcon said:

'Some Scottish clubs' but there's only two that anyone is interested in, and where is the value in sending a full squad to Hibs away in December? The thing was invented by Ron Noades wasn't it?1
-
The Scottish prem clubs wouldn’t want to play in it1
