FM24 will be free from the Epic Games store for one week starting on September 5th.1
-
What an almighty cock up this has been, surely no one will buy it if it comes out it March?

May as well patch FM24 then wait till FM2611

It’s not good news but I would 100% rather it be this way than they rush out a really bad game next month. If they do that they might never recover from it.
There are already unofficial patches out there - I expect that the FM community will work full force on a proper updated database that will be out fairly soon and tide people over until the spring. Or even until FM26.2 -
I remember the same happening with CM4. That was a bug filled mess, but no doubt they’ve grown and learnt a lot in the 21/22 years since.
It’s not great but hopefully it comes out in a very good state in March.1 -
Agreed it's much better to wait than put out a subpar product, I just think why not wait an extra 6 months rather than try to get people to buy the game twice in 6 months0
-
Yeah if I was them I'd shelve 25 and focus on 264
-
Publishers get criticised if they release a buggy product so makes sense to delay.0
-
Yep can’t see the point in releasing it in March. Might as well focus on 26 and release that earlier than normal.I’ve always found it a little weird that they release it in November.4

There's an argument for it not being a yearly game but every 2/3 years with squad updates either free or for £10 or so each year. In essence the game is just a database, to come up with new features each year is unrealistic. I know this change is more complex but if they hadn't had to put work into FM24 (which is basically FM23 anyway) then this might have been avoided.1

I guess another option for this current predicament is charge full price for 25 but that gives you a discount for 26. The fact they're cracking on suggests they're in somewhat of a financial hole0
-
They've also taken a lot of preorders and will have figured that money into future costs. Feels a bit like they'll release a still weak product in March to fulfill orders and then be late on the next one. I wonder if they're contractually obliged to release a game every year

Surely they won't have the time for FM26 to be much more than a data update?0

I truly think they need to cut 25 or rename it 25/26, update it next November to be for the new season and release 27 in another year after that. Otherwise surely they'll just be chasing their own tails from now on2

I will probably still purchase the game in March but the problem leads to less work done on fm26 unless they delay that too. With the move to the new engine I feel this is make or break for them with the changeover effecting the first 2 releases, so will be 3 years before they are back on track. If the changes to engine are underwhelming they could have serious problems.0

I would have bought 25 this year but I can't justify the outlay on a game that will be replaced within about 6 months. Think December is the latest I could justify it to myself at full price. Feels weird saying that when I've bought every one since I was about 15. It's going to need to be a great game to convince people it's worth it I think0
-
This has been disaster after disaster from SI. They need to deliver an enhanced product when 25 drops or I think they will alienate large swathes of fanbase0

Don’t think it’s been discussed on here, but they made the decision to implement women’s football into 25 but drop international football (at least for now).
Quite ridiculous in hindsight considering they had enough changes to be making that they went and pushed hard to add more than they probably needed to.1 -

The thing is though, people don't generally play international management because it's so poorly implemented, not because the concept isn't interesting. It's boring, you mostly just hammer the space bar waiting to get to a tournament. No-one is going to sit in the stands and watch players, there's not a lot of value in testing different players in qualifiers because in the end you know who the good and bad players are. You just keep an eye on development and decline and then pick a squad for the tournament. Then you watch the players all get injured because fitness isn't re-balanced for those tournaments so you'll have exhausted players getting crippled in the third group game.
What they could and should have done is actually tried to rethink the mode and add in new features to make international management not a much more empty, boring version of the standard game but instead they've just switched it off. I'm more hopeful for the women's game as ostensibly it should be the base game as normal but with a separated group of players, but I'm equally only as hopeful about that as I am about the game in general, which is not very at all. FM covers its daft flaws with its depth, if they take the depth out just to focus on a match engine that I don't even watch then it'll be a disasterpiece2 -
A World Cup or euros with mates is great fun. Was disappointed when they announced no international management.1

It would be good to hear any thoughts on our players as the data deadline for assessing squads is coming up. I've made a lot of changes so most things should be covered, including the system we're now playing with Small on the right etc.0
