Anyone know what the Big Nath/Stansfield moment was?
I think Jones was trying to be peacemaker as I think a one of our players had a few words with Stansfield just after the whistle Jones was on the pitch already to celebrate & just stepped in to break it up / calm it down.
Felt a bit sorry for Edwards having to run across the pitch to take corners and long throw ons. He did look knackered late on. Anderson never looks tired. He really did bust a gut today. I expect Ramsey to play great (my MOM) but Alan Campbell also played well. It was like we had tigers in our midfield!
Couldn't make today but happy to read we played well and deserved it. What formation did we play?
442 - looked like a diamond with Coventry base. Someone said could have been a 4-2-2-2 but not sure about that.. whatever it was, it worked much better than the 532 we’ve seen previously.
Do we have enough to get out of this league, I don’t know. We’ve got to stop losing to sides like Stevenage and Bristol Rovers. No disrespect to them, but replace them with Shrewsbury, Fleetwood etc etc and that’s been our existence these last 10 years.
Today I respect the response and the effort the players put in. Ramsay was superb, and a few others were very good.
I still have a lot of faith in Jones. He’s a good manager and much, much better than Garner, Holden and Appleton and we’d be hard pushed to find someone we could hire that could do a better job.
I take this win in isolation given the last three games, but Mitchell, Edwards, Ramsay, Coventry, Godden are good players. If Tyreece Campbell, Kanu, Leaburn and a few others can find a rhythm alongside them, we may have a chance
I really hope we follow up this win with a good performance against Stockport
Nathan Jones does need to get a thicker skin. This is football. You are going to get criticism after bad results especially when it gets to 3 on the trot. He does come over as being a bit of a baby sometimes. We as fans had a right to criticise after those games. Yes, we were superb today and Jones was a big reason for that but he was also a big reason for how we played in those other games. He says you can’t get too high when you win and too down when you lose. Well he as manager should take that on board.
I find it hard to fathom what he thought supporters would do after those defeats, 'carry on Nathan it will all come right in the end'. He got it spot on today and the players performed supremely well but this is Football and its about opinions. I think his comments may have been a reaction to pressure, because had we lost today, four straight defeats would have put his decisions further into the spotlight.
I genuinely think if we trusted the manager more, and trusted the process, then even after those defeats we wouldn't have been so harsh - we don't because of past experiences. we need as a fan base to get past that or we never will. look at how quick EVERYONE was to say he had lost the changing room last game - he hasn't .

Mitchell's performances this season might be going a bit under the radar. He doesn't put a foot wrong. A few times he received the ball in a dodgy situation and just put it out of play - all you need to do at this level. He's looking rock solid.

Today was absolutely brilliant. Many great performances, all of them really, but Ramsay was magnificent. Surely we stick with this formation now. Doherty & Campbell showing why they are here. COYR.

A totally deserved win in which we neutralised "the best team in the division". Didn't allow them a single shot.
Kanu, Anderson, TC maybe young, they are not be the finished article but all three were a big part of the win and fully justified their places in the team.
Birmingham's fans were as quiet as their team, it was almost as if both just expected the goals and win to come but they were out thought by NJ and outfought and outplayed by Charlton.
Salute to Jones for changing the formation and players and it coming off.

Possibly, but it’s not quite the given we tend to think it is.
For a start, without Alfie we might have had a Godden who would also have scored goals, and we may have played a slightly different style of football that might have suited us better, with more goals being scored by other players. Nothing is certain.
I walked into the ground just knowing we were gonna get smashed…well well well how wrong was I,that was a well worked NJ team out there,just didn’t let Brum get any rhythm going,everyone worked their socks off on & off the pitch,including our subs…loved the banter from the covered end,always good to see the Valley rocking…i walked out of the ground abso buzzing…well done all…🤗👍
Thought Birmingham looked very good first 15 mins or so without creating anything at all; just comfortable on the ball throughout their team and assumed it was a matter of time. A comment on Kanu, who should have done better once or twice with chances but was superb today. Hassled constantly from the front and ran and ran. I thought it was one of his best games for us. The midfield was so much more effective and the defense resisted the constant long ball. Overall a really good, positive Saturday afternoon. Well done lads and well done NJ.
I was particularly impressed by Edwards - he seems to understand the game extremely well and is rarely caught out of position - contrast with Small who was caught out of position defensively within a minute of coming on
I thought Tyreece Campbell was the main reason for the improvement, he made them very nervous at the back with his running down the left, and turned them around. He took a fair few whacks for his effort from their no4 Klarer who he turned inside out.
He played well, but was only on the pitch for 30 mins, so probably wasn’t the main reason.
Unnecessarily chippy post match comments from NJ, but it’s who he is so we probably best get used to it. The comments about “learning a lot about certain people” were interesting as they seemed to be pretty clearly directed into the club, not outwards towards fans. Wonder who/what he was alluding to.
Watching the highlights, for those not there the first Kanu effort was flagged offside. The second where he rounded the keeper he should have scored even though it was a tight angle, think he got caught in two minds as to shoot or pass and in the end did neither. The third his first touch was poor allowing the keeper to smother the ball. At the game on reading the match thread at half time I thought he was unfairly criticised but he should have done better for each and definitely have scored one. But he worked his nuts off and at the end of the day was part of a great team performance. I’m not sure he has what it takes though.

Tough day sitting on the sofa having driven petrol head to go karting and then dropped him off at the tube station (he didn’t get mugged , although ubered him home from sisters after they’d been out for celebratory Pizza Express) little shit and Peter Kay chose golf with Grandad , I chose the sofa , boffin now owns the university of Birmingham you brummie slags . missed 20 mins of first half dozed off (I’ve had boy flu ) but it was like chalk and cheese from the dog shit we’ve produced recently , whatever the fruit bat did it worked to perfection , we looked a well drilled outfit with a purpose, hardworking and effort can get you somewhere , class gets you a swivel and finish that gets you the win that gets you up the table . Ramsay was the man of the match in the lounges that’s at least 3 of the 5 home league games he’s picked that up, class act . The midfield buzzed hard added to a solid defence to keep Brum out was brilliant but there’s no way Birmingham aren’t going up , there’s enough quality there and unlike most I didn’t think Stansfield had the worst game in the world , decent touch and didn’t stop chasing and harrying till the end , superb work ethic , partly fuelled by frustration but fair play . Kanu , unreal work rate and effort no doubting his attitude is spot on and he is a top fella but saw today exactly why I don’t think he’s good enough ability wise when it matters, I’ve never felt that the ball and his feet are in tune and at one with him but then when you’re brought up on silk like Morts in the top two divisions you really aren’t keen at spending too much time in this third tier of a shit hole league wanking off about how good everyone is at running . Godden I’ve liked from the off, this fella has done the rounds and knows where the onion bag is .
please let this be the start of something good and resembling football rather than the attrition we were trying to pretend was beyond amazing, let’s build on this and improve footballing wise and make it worth watching . 15 mins to go no matter what the result was gonna be that was our finest performance of the season even if we’d lost , you could not ask more of those players realistically. Unbelievably still don’t know how good Mannion really is and I’m overly critical of everything about this wankiest of periods in our history but the defence has made that possible . Id like to see him catch crosses but modern keepers just don’t do it, the numbers must show the punch is the better option taking out the fumble , so be it . shame no midweek or weekend fixtures for us there’s a handful of league one next Saturday so may even the table up game wise .
