Tony Watt - Waste of a Talent

A complex character, one who you wonder if a coach like Bows couldn't get the best out of. Can't imagine he will be there for long.0

One of my favourite ever players, considering the short time he was with us, made a big impact.
Met him a couple of times, nice guy, apart from being a ***tic fan10 -
I liked him as well. I would imagine he was a pain in the rear to be around in training etc but he had the ability to do something in a match that got you off your seat I don't see a lot in our squad that does that for me now.13
-
I think he will always be remembered for holding the ball in the corner for several minutes. A truly memorable moment30
-
Liked him when he was here , seems like a good guy off the pitch. Just seems like someone that never really settled at a club.
Had the ability to produce something from nothing.3 -
Is there any footage of this?cafckev said:I think he will always be remembered for holding the ball in the corner for several minutes. A truly memorable moment0 -

If someone did that to us we would lose our minds

Not sure anyone atm is capable of doing that tbh.. do need a bit more shit house mentality on the pitch.5

I was at a session with Gudmonson a few days later and he was asked about that and he said if he'd been one of those defenders he would have been embarrassed, they should have kicked him out of the park, he would haveHuskaris said:If someone did that to us we would lose our minds

Blackpool did it last Saturday didn’t they. Watts rolling around on the floor and collapsing yet he barely got touchedHuskaris said:If someone did that to us we would lose our minds
Okay when we do it, out of order when the opposition do it4 -

I understand why you think it was Gudmundsson but it was Yoni Buyens, the king penalty taker who said that and JBG seemed to agree !
Yoni Buyens was soon to be out of contract so felt free to say some home truths.0 -
Bit like people accepting our shit/boring new hoof style because we've been picking up points.eaststandmike said:

It wasn't the winning fouls that was winding us up last Saturday, it was the endless pretending that they had serious injuries, resulting in several long delays, and 12 minutes of added time.eaststandmike said:

What Watt did was entirely legitimate.8 -
A bit different when they repeatedly fell over with no players around them and the stretcher came out 3 times. Also, our game was in the Champ and near the end of the season if memory serves. 5 weeks in to League One in September is nothing short of embarrassing.eaststandmike said:

Methven said on hos pod that there were 11 hrad injuries with the stretcher on 5 times, yet none left the field.JaShea99 said:

Never really clicked for me til just now that one of the players Watt enrages into kicking him and getting booked is Michail AntonioScoham said:4 -
If I recall, Antonio was tearing Wilson to pieces down the wing first half. Second half we put a young Gomez on Antonio and shut him up and completely.Garrymanilow said:

The Game before, Antonio had scored a goal from the half way line from the left flank so when Wilson and Harriet between them failed to stop Antonio, he did the same thing and put Forest 1 up. Michail ran riot 1st half but In the 2nd he made no impact as Gomez and with the help of Bulot kept him quiet. A game of two halves where we came back to win 2-1 and Tony magic feet Watt did his party piece on the touch line.
Happy days but they seem a long time ago now 🙁3 -
That 2 minutes worth beats Saturdays 112 minutes for entertainment value.Scoham said:
Sublime close control.11 -
I mean, they weren't that happy were they? Usual Roland shit, not signing enough players, sacking the Belgian manager after replacing the previous Belgian manager to employ the owner's special friend, a 13 game winless run, a 5 year old Karlan Grant and Christophe Lepoint on the bench, staring relegation in the face before a brief upturn in form followed by relegation the next season, two 11 game winless runs and the Karel Fraeye farce. Might have been a fun game but things were at the end of the arc of their impending shit spiral at that point and it's all part of the same Roland-themed disasterpiece.soapboxsam said:Dizzle said:

You are correct but ?
Any individual win in the Championship always felt like happy days and that was a game of two halves.
Yes we don't need reminding of the war games off the pitch which went on for seasons and could break out again if too many results like the Blackpool and Reading defeats happen.
Other than Richard Murray, Part one of his tenure with Peter Varney, when have CAFC not been struggling to have a strong infrastructure off the pitch ?

Well yeah, I haven't been happy for 18 years0

Those 2 minutes will always make Tony Watt a Charlton legend. The ovation he got when it ended was immense!11
