Reading ownership shenanigans - 14th May 2025 takeover complete (p7)

Didn’t we also get BWP very cheaply as Plymouth were struggling financially?
I hope they get a proper owner soon but we shouldn’t avoid signing good players from them if they’re available in January. Not saying we should put in lowball offers but I don’t see an issue with a fair offer.

Since when have morals played any part in football?4

Pender and Humprhey when Wolves were in a mess7

Better to leave them to be unemployed? It's the players fault and I couldn't blame any of them for getting out asap.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:

Really not a fan of these kind of posts. I'd prefer we left them well alone. When we were going through hell under Roland and co there were other clubs posting the same about our players and it's shite fan solidarity.Athletico Charlton said:I feel sorry for them but if that really is them back to stage one of a takeover then some low ball offers for Tyler Bindon, Lewis Wing and Michael Stickland should be considered. They wouldn't be able to play until Jan of course and so probably wouldn't accept a move themselves but you can only ask.
Let's hope they get out of the mess they're in asap and avoid a feeding frenzy on the carcass of their club.3 -
John Humphrey told me a nice little story about that transfer;Henry Irving said:Pender and Humprhey when Wolves were in a mess
After a few months of being at Charlton, he went in to Lennie about a pay-rise. There was the usual haggling and when it was all settled, JH said to Lennie something along the lines of "Remember, you got a great deal only having to pay £60 Grand for me" Lennie said, "Yeah....Docherty wanted £200 (thousand) but I told him I thought you were only worth £15 (thousand)!".....which was the going rate for a 4th Division full-back at the time!
And so, we got John Humphrey for only £60,000 when even then he was worth about £250,000. I couldn't believe it when we signed him, as he was already good enough for the First Division. At that point, I knew we were properly serious about promotion.10 -
I hope they get out of the mess and find a good owner soon, but if they have players who would strengthen our team and are available and willing to sign for us then i have no issue with it.Valley11 said:

Because if we don't move for them, you can bet your life another club will, and our priority should always be having the best squad we can.11 -
Sadly there can’t be any sympathy in this. They will go somewhere for a reduced fee, if the players are good enough it makes sense4

I don’t want to see any club, well almost any club struggling with their very future. We’ve experienced it and it’s effing awful. For whatever reasons and no doubt they are complex, Reading find themselves needing to raise money. They have assets that can be sold and inevitably, unless there’s a new buyer very soon they’ll have to cash in some chips. It’s sad but it’s just how it is. It’s not predatory to look at who is available if Reading are making them available out of need.0

Yep, and look at all the Ipswich dross karma has sent our way recently becaue of it.

Even Lennie lowballed us for Robert Lee , soon after he’d left , knowing we were desperate for funds to get back to The Valley.

Relatively speaking, isn’t this what happens virtually every time a bigger club catches the eye of a player from a smaller club? Knowing the smaller club is (usually) on the bones of their arse, the bigger club puts in a low speculative offer.Valley11 said:

Not talking about big name clubs and big name players here, just between the likes of us and Birmingham, for example.0 -

something but how is it the players’ fault?
Clearly a typo1 -
We’ve been lowballed plenty of times since Roland, Southall etc arrived so no issues if we did get someone on the cheap ourselves.1

Reading FC lose court case as injunction dismissed | Reading Chronicle
Continues to be a horrible situation for Reading fans... this Dai Yongge needs to just go forth a f**k himself
Hypothetically if they did get kicked out of the EFL before the end of the season, wouldnt we lose the point that we got against them, for the 0-0 draw at the Valley, as all their results would be null & void - Wrexham would lose 3-pts / Wycombe would lose 1-pt / Stockport would lose 6-pts for context
Not that its a situation that I could see happen though.

I do feel sorry for them but their fans do their best to challenge that by being absolute ar*wholes every time we play them.21

There supporters can just go back to supporting Chelsea4

Wouldn't want to benefit from a club going out of business. We can do that from our results and that is the only way to do it.2

Surely their owner has to sell now so this could help them. Or am I missing something.0 -
We have some dick heads too mate who travel there. This season a good lot of them were escorted around the stadium as they wanted aggro. Most were young pricks to be fair. But some of the older ones don't help. try and take your seat, standing up when there is clearly no need to, standing in the walkways etc, drugged and pissed up idiots who stay on the concourse and have no idea what the score is.AFKABartram said:I do feel sorry for them but their fans do their best to challenge that by being absolute ar*wholes every time we play them.
Suspect there will be similar tomorrow.5 -
EFL Statement: Reading FC and Mr Dai Yongge
Following its disclosure in open court earlier today, the League can confirm that Mr Yongge has been recently disqualified under the EFL’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test.
The disqualification requires Mr Yongge to divest his interests in the Club, and in the event that he fails to do so within the agreed timeframe, the League will consider all options available within its regulations to bring the matter to a conclusion.
The League continues to work closely with Reading FC to progress a sale of the Club at the earliest opportunity, in order to end the current uncertainty surrounding its future for its staff, supporters and wider community.

No different to a club having points docked for other misdemeanors imo. Being thrown out the league is just top of the tree.MuttleyCAFC said:Wouldn't want to benefit from a club going out of business. We can do that from our results and that is the only way to do it.0 -

Madness that he's still there. I remember their fans protesting against him and got a game called off by invading the pitch, that was 14 months ago!clive said:EFL Statement: Reading FC and Mr Dai Yongge

Then again it's madness he was even passed by the EFL in the first place, given that the PL rejected him from buying Hull a few years ago.
The last 2 clubs he's owned, one in China, one in Belgium, both folded.5 -
So which American bid is actually trying to do the deal? I thought the Rob Couhig deal had collapsed and the exclusivity had moved to an MSD Capital/Robert Platek bid?
(Wasn't Platek linked with us in the weird Spiegel period????)0 -
Platek is the current buyer and Couhig is trying to claim money from when his deal collapsed (vaguely, it’s much more complicated than that!)MarcusH26 said:So which American bid is actually trying to do the deal?
