Does anyone else think this is genuinely our first real test of the season coming up on Saturday? In a mentality and application way I mean, we often failed miserably against the lesser teams last season (teams I consider that we should be getting 2 wins from), we got 2 points from the Salop last season…we have to do better to remain on track for 2pts per game average - on the basis that NJ said at the weekend we are on track with 10pts from 5. It’s ok to find the motivation for Bolton, Rotherham or Wigan, but if we play like we did at Reading we could be undone again! I’m sure we’ll be fine if we keep doing the right things in the right areas.

Be interesting to see how many chances we create against a team who is going to seriously struggle this season.7

One of the guys at my company is a big Wrexham fan and he said Shrewsbury were dreadful when they played them, just backed off and fell apart which made me more nervous almost! Hopefully we can put them away convincingly and get a nice solid win.0

My mates and I are going to this - pre match going to go to the Charles Darwin pub which is circa 15 mins walk from ground
Having looked at Shrews results since start of season, I’m confident of us winning

New landlord/lady has taken over but confirmed that we can still leave our cars there for the duration of the match .
See you there !1 -

and as plenty of Charlton fans tell us Wrexhams squad isn't as good as ours and we don't expect them to finish above us , so easy away winLonelyNorthernAddick said:One of the guys at my company is a big Wrexham fan and he said Shrewsbury were dreadful when they played them, just backed off and fell apart which made me more nervous almost! Our unerring ability to not do the obvious will trip us up here.

And it looks like Wrexham aren't struggling one bit so far. I think it may have been wishful thinkingoohaahmortimer said:

Truthfully, I think every game is now a proper test, expectations are high, so we want to beat the bigger sides, and we want to win the games that we 'should be winning'.
Hard to predict this one. I don't think we have enough quality to confidently say we will win. Hopefully we keep a clean sheet, I'd take that. Blackpool at home is where I'd be more expecting a result in what will probably be a more open game. Reckon Shrewsbury will play it safe.1 -

Having seen their defending against Wrexham I expect Shrews defence to all of a sudden have the game of their lives and cause a meltdown here3

2 games at home and 3 away in the next 5, so if the aim is 10 points from every 5, then we to get off to a good start on this set of 5. COYR0

On paper at least I would say Shrewsbury are the worst of the next five we have to play so 3 points is a must.Coveredendchoir said:2 games at home and 3 away in the next 5, so if the aim is 10 points from every 5, then we to get off to a good start on this set of 5. COYR0 -

I rang the pub today - happy to welcome away fans1 -
If we don't create chances against the like of Shrewsbury then we have a serious problem. I think we will win but probably by the one goal.2

If we have aspirations of getting out this league, it absolutely needs to be 3 points. I feel like they are pretty nailed on to go down imo.
Risk is that they will park the bus and we need to break them down. We need to have the urgency that we had once the subs we made on Saturday from the start.2 -
Went to Shrewsbury couple of seasons back, it was the worse nil - nil draw that I had ever seen. We were absolutely fecking awful. Then in 90 plus whatever, we let them in and lost 1-0. Was in my head a whole new Charlton low…….
Im not convinced this will be any different….. !0 -

We are a much changed team under NJ than we were then.

The best Shrewsbury away was the 18/19 after the play-offs loss.
I was so bitter after the play-offs loss, and how their fans acted afterwards. It almost felt like a Derby game going back there. I was so confident we would win and we smashed them 3 nil.
I was like a man possessed with each goal. Think after the third went in I ran over to the bit with all the aggy little football factory wannabes and was chucking out Undertaker throat slit gestures.

Rumours that Dobbo was in our end trying to keep a low profile? Anyone confirm this?

Not possible, he would have been playing for Wrexham surely.HandG said:Rumours that Dobbo was in our end trying to keep a low profile? Anyone confirm this?

I didn't see Dobo at the game, but I doubt that i would have recognised him, as I'd visited most of the pubs in Shrewsbury prior to kick-off.HandG said:Rumours that Dobbo was in our end trying to keep a low profile? Anyone confirm this?
