Taking the first three games as a series Lloyd Jones has been simply excellent, our best player.
The performance yesterday wasn’t absolutely perfect, but barring injuries what we have to work on are tweaks.
I think Coventry should improve his set pieces, I would have marked him higher but for that, the same goes for Luke Berry who was very good, but I hesitated to mark Berry higher because I was pissed off he got a yellow. The third yellow In successive games, all stupid ones.
Everybody who knows football, and especially everybody who has seen Ty coming through (and being messed about by Appleton in particular) must recognise the very good job our coaches and manager have done with him to restore him to the excellent footballer he is becoming. Does anybody doubt that Tyreece Campbell will make a career in football?2 -
A 3rd and final comment from me. Bolton was the 3rd team to 'cramp up' towards the end of the game. We are so much fitter than we've ever been, and the league games we've played, has seen every team have players go down because of cramp. Long may this continue!33

On a positive note, it was good to see Berry having a lot of the ball & being an outlet around the middle of the pitch. Especially second half where he found space to launch an attack once Coventry or one of the defenders gave him the ball. Something we've been missing for the last couple of seasons.
And I'm wondering whether Leaburn will be missing spark up front.....replacing Ahadme like Kermorgant did with Hayes.

SO. FAR IT DOESNT.
Only you could find a way to moan about 3 wins and 3 clean sheets from 3 games, including 1 over a side expected to contend for automatic promotion.
I am simply stating a fact. People on here keep saying " clean sheets win you titles" and I have pointed out that we've won all our games by keeping a clean sheet. Now, if "clean sheet wins" win you titles then we should be top. But we're not. We aren't even top 2. So, for the last time, there must be something else that is needed to win you automatic promotion than a clean sheet win.

Obviously we would have to score goals as well.
Good teams are built on a solid defence.7 -
It's the best squad we've had in five years, it's time to get behind The owners, Nathan Jones, the coaching staff and the squad. Having the best start to a season since 2011 should provide reason for optimism but it's a long season and there are now more clubs in this division who could arguably occupy the top six spots, some haven't had the start to a season that they would have hoped, but we took maximum points off of one of those yesterday and we will need to repeat that many times over the season, the future looks a lot brighter now than it did twelve months ago.6

Our extra fitness and organisation is an underrated quality. We've already seen in all 3 games in the league we've scored late in all of them. Defence - rock solid and and support each other and all know each others roles. Support each other, praise each other. Jones is immense as is Mitchell. Proper men
wingbacks - excellent athletes but can defend tooMidfield - Coventry is the quarterback who keeps it ticking over. Jury was out for me last year but this season is his breakthrough so far. Barry and Doc are busy little fuckers and don’t give the opponent a moments rest. Berry could find space in a matchbox!
Attack - Ahadme occupies defences with his work rate and when he gets one he’ll settle. TC is a revelation. His pace is petrifying for defences. Several times a defender is chasing a ball and thinking “this is mine all day long” and suddenly this little lightning bolt nips in and give him a headache. And does that all game!
NJ - you are as mad as a box of frogs but your passion is infectious and it’s spreading in the team . Pre season they talked about wanting more leaders - there’s bloody loads of them now
make no mistake there’s a number of players there who are easily good enough to play in the championship. This is as good a team as we’ve had for a while now. Let’s keep this momentum up and we could easily be be on the brink of something special this season.54 -

A very kind opening run of games, but in fairness a lot of people said on here pre-season that they'd bought well and would be up there.7 -
Thing is, Golfie, you were moaning in 2011 that Powell's team was only winning 1 or 2 nil while Huddersfield were scoring 4s and 5s.
We went up as champions, Huddersfield missed out.
No one has been promoted or relegated yet because it is August, not May.
Three teams have started very well.
One was relegated, one promoted and the other was us so there is no trend.
It's also hard to judge the quality of the opposition the three 100% sides have faced. Have we or they faced good sides or relegation fodder?
There are another 43 games to go, we've started well which is great but long way to go.34 -

I know their start has been kind but I thought their recruitment has been impressive enough that it's not too much of a surprise they're up there. Oli Norwood another smart addition if they make that one happen.3 - Sponsored links:

Whilst he's been great in this opening period, I'd be interested to see how things look when they are flipped with TC. If he can pick up with the mentality he's been showing as a starter as a sub, I think his pace and guile would be a very unwanted for a tiring centre half or fullback. I'm sure we'll get to see how that plays out as the season progresses.0

If we win all our remaining games 1-0 do you reckon we still might not get promotion?

Good luck picking a man of the match for that, not a single player played bad, and almost all of them played very good.
I can't really add anything, every point has been made and I agree with most of it. This team won't lose many games, and the team that does eventually give us a loss, will be a very well drilled team. I can't see anything other than top6, quite confident in sticking my neck out and saying that.
Thank you Nathan Jones for making me proud of the team I watch again, love you mate.

A performance to make you believe.
Sonething is happening here
So many positives but two big things are the back three and Coventry. Superb. And I never felt particularly worried that we’d concede. I have felt like that since about 2011.0 -

I wonder if our new pitch has anything to do with other teams tiring.

Great performance all round and some great defending by al the team when necessary against a good slick Bolton side.
Hope we can add a little more going forward and create more chances, Dont thin the front 2 will there in the coming weeks. Maybe though he will keep it as such seeing as the results are going our way at present.
Great cameos by Chucks and Godden in the last 20 mins.

But currently, and I know it's only 3 games & the season is over 46 games, we are not in the automatic promotion spaces even though we have won all our games & kept 3 clean sheets.......seeing as everyone keeps telling me clean sheets are what win you titles.
I really do want to drop this issue but people keep ignoring the facts and dont or cant explain why we are not top.....or at least 2nd.
PS. And at this stage I dont really care, but people cant seem to let it go. I am simply posting facts. We could have won all 3 games 4-2 and we'd be 2nd. No clean sheets in sight. So once again......there is something else just as important as a clean sheet. Just recognise that fact & move on.8
