Ahadme will be a proper marmite player, he works so hard and creates space and constantly harasses the opposition, but then he goes and tries to hold the ball up having burst through with the ball, killing the momentum. I would like to see him have a shot more often
Oh really, let the guy have some privacy.

    Oh, "shot".

Bit of moaning about the set pieces today, especially on the player marks. Don't forget he had to avoid Santos and avoid the keeper, and put one right on Chuks' head that should've been a goal.

Very good performance all-round, worked their socks off, subs all helped. Great day!

    I think I'm a Jones believer .....

I did not think there was a lot between us and promotion favourites Bolton but we created and took our two chances.

TC has added some steel to his game, fighting and winning balls which would have part him by last season.

Is the goal keeper position really an issue? We can't really tell due to the defence in front. AMB must look in with envy. he had Hector and Thomas, Mannion has Jines and Mitchell.

Onwards and upwards .. we're in the play off spots
I think Mannion is more composed and comfortable than AMB, he knows what he’s doing and doesn’t flap.

yes AMB probably would look better with this team in front of him but I don’t think he’d look as composed as Mannion has especially when having spells of nothing to do then being called upon

    😉
  • We need @Swisdom to come on with some inside info.
  • Bolton are a good team, but were rattled and outgunned by a more committed and fitter side.

What price Ramsay?  Simply superb today!

Towards the end of the game, we had a few goal kicks , all the players all went over to the west stand. Mannion then kicked it towards them, resulting in the ball going off for a throw. I think Small should have ran towards the AC stand and then the keeper kick it to him, plenty of space to run into.

Superb. Excellent defensive display. Thought Ramsay was outstanding. And yes, Coventry is definitely getting better. But we can’t be in the position of just hanging on until Godden and Aneke come on.. Saying that Campbell is definitely getting better..

Feel like there’s so many told you so’s on this forum from so called fans who were moaning most of pre season about how much we’ll miss Dobson etc. Docherty and Berry are levels above and it was obvious. Love this team . Up the Charlton !

Sorry BJ, but I don't think we were hanging on. This is how the team plays, Nathan Jones sets them up not to be breached and we have players good enough to play and win that way.

Can anyone still pining for Alfie please read the below before posting anything about Birmingham’s result:

    - it took Alfie May 328 minutes to score his first competitive Charlton goal

    - it took Matt Godden 43 minutes to score his first competitive Charlton goal
So you wouldn’t have May in the team / squad ?

    Ridiculous comment ?

    Lets not start this...
  • I don't get to many games and haven't seen us win for 2 seasons so the win and performance has made me very happy. I loved the fight in this team. I felt that we really rattled Bolton and forced a lot of errors. I think Mitchell has made a huge difference and marshalls the defence well. I was impressed with how Ahadme pressed and harried. I bet defenders hate him! Coventry was my MOTM though. He was everywhere. I hope we can maintain the momentum. Well done lads.

Nathan Jones wouldn’t and that’s all that matters.

Agree. Some people like BJ need to get used to it.

Another win, 9 points from 9, another clean sheet, a win against a good team in Bolton and even a second goal which was scored by a striker. I hope the locks on the toilets are still broken or we’re going to have very little to complain about this week
I’m waiting on Golfie to complain that goals do matter - because we are currently 3rd due to amount of goals scored.
Said that to my son after the game 😀

I couldn't give a fuck about clean sheets. Just win games & then make sure you win by 2 or 3.
As NJ said post match, don't concede and you have a great chance of winning. It won't happen every game but keep enough clean sheets and we have more than enough to win games.

Just think of Miles Leaburn to come back into this team….
Looking forward to seeing Dixon and a few signings this week too. This start can only help.

Hate to break it to you but only one automatically promoted team in the past 5 seasons has averaged more than 2 goals a game - and they came 2nd.

Most have averaged 1.7 - 1.8 so the only way teams are generally getting enough points to win leagues is by keeping clean sheets*, not be winning by 2 or 3 goals a game.

*Yes they all averaged 1 or less goal conceded a game - 0.8 - 1.0.
