Jones L and Mitchell A were immense
    Ramsey and Small excellent
    Gillesphey decent (EDITED!!!!)
    Coventry fabulous
Berry and Doherty a little bit of class and nous
TC worked tirelessly and caused them problems
Aneke and Godden are great options off the bench
Mannion solid but his kicking makes Dean Kiely look like Ederson

    Now.  Ahadme

Worked Tirelessly.  But I remain concerned he's not actually very good.   He's average at lots of things, but he certainly doesn't look like a natural finisher.

Overall how can you complain when the lads put that type of performance in compared to the actual shower of shite we saw last season.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a Charlton defence consistently perform this well.

With 4 out of the 6 back line here since January, it's interesting to wonder why the huge change
Organisation, grit, determination and leadership. Mitchell makes a big difference
  • The defence have been excellent these last three games but I think the midfield really showed their class today, Docherty with the goal, Berry fantastic all round play and Coventry reading the game throughout in the holding role.

A good defence is all about productive time on the training ground, building partnerships and a way of playing. That's why it was so good that we had the defence in place nice and early this summer, so we could work on it through preseason.

Our attacking play and attacking set pieces need work, but when we're so solid that's not a problem.

    What a cross from Chucks.

Notlob are a decent team but we restricted them to half-chances.

Have to say given our record against Bolton that was one of the best all round team performances I have ever seen at the valley …. like to pick out the midfield 3 especially they are streets ahead of what we had last season .. again Coventry was outstanding …

What a joy to watch that was, fuck they're making me start to believe this could be something special

Oh dear, Bolton fans calling for Evatt to be sacked. Think that might happen to a lot of our opponents this season
To be honest he didn’t look happy on the touch line.  Not angry just apathetic which he isn’t usually.
The players seemed to be questioning him a lot in the first half.

The only negative for me is the delivery from set plays. Whether it's corners or freekicks it's consistently poor at the moment.
Generally it does need work still but there was one very good corner from Conor Coventry that Chuks had a free header from. Should have hit the target with it and we would’ve been two goals clear sooner.

Can anyone still pining for Alfie please read the below before posting anything about Birmingham’s result:

    - it took Alfie May 328 minutes to score his first competitive Charlton goal

    - it took Matt Godden 43 minutes to score his first competitive Charlton goal
Why start that debate after such a great performance?

So you believe that Godden will win the Golden Boot in a much improved team?

Late in the second half there was a great bit of defending by Coventry on our byline, which led to a goal kick. It was celebrated by the defense like he’d scored a goal! Didn’t see that sort of thing last season.
  • A very solid performance and defensively we look very good. No panic at any stage.

    Jones has us well organised.

    Still not sure about Ahadme.

That was an interesting game. Bolton's approach play was excellent but they couldn't ice the cake and I felt pretty comfortable. We seem to have developed a fantastic defence with Mitchell the only new addition in the team that started. We shouldn't forget the midfield three an that and I think we look very strong there. Campbell and Ahadme had decent games without getting chances themselves, They certainly posed problems.

It's been said already but we are so solid throughout the whole team not just the defence, defending starts with the front two. Jones was my MOTM today, out of contract next June we need to tie him down now to a new one. Mitchell was excellent too and Ramsay. Small was overshadowed by the rest. Gillesphey the weak link for me although he didn't do much wrong today. Coventry was outstanding, needs to improve on his set plays though. Still don't think people get Ahadme. He's not May's replacement ffs. He's not going to score twenty goals, although with the right service he'll get say 15, but he brings more than that. Some will see it in the end. Docherty had a great game today, Camp elk worked his socks off, as did Berry. Mannion looks assured and the shirt is his to lose at the moment even if someone else comes in this week.

I'm hoping for three out this week and three or four in. If we do that and improve the squad further this should be a very good season. I'm sure the owners will back NJ.

    A good afternoon all round.

There was a brilliant corner second half and Chuks missed a free header. Don’t think they were terrible today although there were a couple of shockers

    I think I'm a Jones believer .....

I did not think there was a lot between us and promotion favourites Bolton but we created and took our two chances.

TC has added some steel to his game, fighting and winning balls which would have part him by last season.

Is the goal keeper position really an issue? We can't really tell due to the defence in front. AMB must look in with envy. he had Hector and Thomas, Mannion has Jines and Mitchell.

Onwards and upwards .. we're in the play off spots

I think Ahadme lacks confidence on the ball and when don’t touch it for 65 mins it’s not hard to see why. The difference between great strikers and decent ones. Think he’s a handful for Centre backs tho and he does allow us to win second balls high.

Ahadme will be a proper marmite player, he works so hard and creates space and constantly harasses the opposition, but then he goes and tries to hold the ball up having burst through with the ball, killing the momentum. I would like to see him have a shot more often

3 games and I don’t think any team has had a meaningful chance. That is absolutely amazing from the defensive unit

Stevie Essex on X Scrappy in places and plenty to work on but the defence stood out for me today in particular Josh Edwards who was MoM in my opinion A great
Wow where did you get that photo? Surprised it isn't on the OS.
