What a start to the season. We’ve already kept three clean sheets, where we only kept five in the whole of last season.

Jones and Mitchell are outstanding defensive pairing. The midfield, which I admit I thought too lightweight for League One excelled today, with Coventry outstanding.
Good to see Chuks come on and affect a game. Put a relatively simple header over the bar, and then a shot that was equally off target, but provided a beautiful assist for the Godden header. Adhadme tires them out and Aneke cashes in.
Can’t believe we’re three from three, with ZERO goals conceded. I’d never have thought in a million years that would have happened after the Wimbledon friendly.

Great performance, sweet victory. Biggest shock, the ref giving two foul throws, not since primary school have I seen that.

Says something when our weakest player performance today was Small and even he looked ok.
Probably true but don't forget it was his pass to Docherty that led to the first goal.

I hope one of the coaches spends all week with Small helping him with his crossing. It's not a patch on last season. Get that back in his game and he will be a much better player.

Superb performance- gutsy, solid and created the clearer cut chances.

Special mentions to Jones who looks a different player to last season, ditto Coventry, and Ramsay who is one of our bargains of the last decade.

Berry looks like a player who scored in the prem last season. Docherty likewise a player with 150 odd champ appearances behind him.

Godden has to be starting for me - such an intelligent footballer.

Get Edwards back in a couple of weeks and get Leaburn fit. Plus a couple more in before deadline.

This can be a good season.

Teams get out of this league playing consistently week in, week out. The first two games saw that consistency loud and clear, but today that old Charlton fallibility of inconsistency came to the fore.

You need to drum it into them, Jonesy:

    WE WIN ONE NIL!
  • Great battling performance, Jones & Coventry brilliant. Well deserved win.
  • 17% of last season’s points (9/53)

    60% of last season’s clean sheets (3/5)

    6.5% of games played (3/46)
Those stats, especially the second is embarrassing

2 pages of this thread and I’ve not seen a single
negative comment, a real marker on how far we’ve come
  • Feels like something is truly building we are no longer an easy ride for teams.

Tough, industrial at times but we do it so well and that’s how Jones wants us to play.

A big mention to Coventry he is an unsung hero after today - does so much covering and at times really gets us out of trouble, also seems to be passing a lot better as the games continue.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a Charlton defence consistently perform this well.

With 4 out of the 6 back line here since January, it's interesting to wonder why the huge change

    Simples - fitness.

Enjoyed that, been a long time that we look able to beat a good side like Bolton. Thought TC and Adahme worked their socks off. Ramsay is some player, so good on the ball and getting out of tight spots. Coventry excellent but my new favourite player is Berry….love him.

edit. Lloyd Jones looks absolutely brilliant so far this season, absolute quality player.

Any negative is not worth mentioning after that performance. Let’s revel in a 2-0 win. Two great goals that came from us pressing them. But both chances still needed finishing and we’re done so emphatically. Remember last season when we conceded game after game beyond the 80 minute mark and couldn’t keep a clean sheet? Well, what a turnaround so far this season.

First half I thought Bolton looked decent in the pockets and were finding a little too much space. However, they were not able to relax in the ball to make the most of it and the triumvirate of Docherty, Berry and Coventry looks very good at this level.

Second half those pockets did not appear and we were able, for the most part, to enjoy possession.

Bolton players looked irritated from the off and were digging at each other which is always a good sign.

Hell of a long way to go but let’s enjoy an  excellent performance and victory.

Oh dear, Bolton fans calling for Evatt to be sacked. Think that might happen to a lot of our opponents this season
