    from the programme that I saw recently about the quite comprehensive study on where the stones came from..

    The altar stone isn't Welsh, it's from North East Scotland. 

    The primary ring, the "bluestones" are from SW Wales, and the outer ring are English

    I'm not sure that English Heritage have a history of posting fake images...

    Not photoshopped, but a long exposure. The Northern Lights were present but not this visible to the naked eye.
