Great musician, great guy and I was a massive fan in my teens.  Died peacefully at age 90. RIP. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c80ej3j9j72o

RIP. A great musician, the kick-starter of so many other careers and a sometime performer at The Black Prince in Bexley. Another memory from my youth off to the great gig in the Sky. Still performing until a few years ago.7

There have been threads on here talking about the most influential people in popular music - very few, if any, can make a claim that John wasn't one of them, and at or near the top of that list. A look at the musicians that passed through his hands in The Bluesbreakers gives ample testament to that.Absolute musical legend.RIP John8

Very influential if not always a huge commercial success. Also one of those people you forgot was still alive!
Lived in SE London at some point I believe - my mate worked in Grove Park library at one point and I think used to see him in there0

R.I.P to the man that broke blues.0

Yes that’s right…….I believe he used to buy his newspapers there too. 😏redlanered said:Very influential if not always a huge commercial success. Also one of those people you forgot was still alive!

To be serious for a moment, his CV is unmatched by any musician in the last 50 years…..his name crops up constantly in reviews and history of the music scene during that period.
I doubt there’s a musician alive who has played alongside so many others at such a renowned and talented level.
 Rock on John……Rock on.👏

As others have said, the man behind the blues scene in the UK, and a mentor to Clapton, Beck, Page as well as many, many more. Got into the guitar blues music scene like so many after buying the 'Beano' album. RIP John.0
