Good to see some kind words shared by his former colleague & Ipswich captain. Get the feeling these players we are bringing in are good characters from the little snippets we have seen and heard.10 -

Really hoping I am wrong on this, but I am hugely underwhelmed.
If he was a released/free transfer, or even £100k or something, sure.
But using the yardstick of how much we have sold players for in the past (and yes I am aware of the fact he is young etc etc), I think the fee being paid here seems over the odds...
But that might be why I am not employed in football!
Good luck Gassan, with friends like us!....4 -

A year after we sold Grant for £1-2m or so he moved to WBA for a reported £15m.
We sold Konsa to Brentford for about £2.5m, a season later he went to Villa for around £12m.
Yes it’s a gamble paying that much considering he’s only really had one full season of impressing at this level, but a big part of improving as a club is finding good players early when they’re affordable.
There will always be some players available for a small fee, May because of his age, Mitchell because Millwall didn’t need him, Edwards because he was in the Scottish 2nd tier, but sometimes you have to pay that bit more. The selling club might be in a stronger position (as Ipswich are) or the player might have a lot of interest.
It’ll be interesting to see how quickly he settles. Even if he doesn’t have an instant impact it sounds like the potential is there, and he’s a real worker in terms of trying to improve his game and his fitness.13 -

Redmidland said:Welcome Gassan, looking forward to seeing you alongside Godden.
The big question for me is will @golfaddick be happy for once!
Just hope we can now sign players to create chances for them. As it stands only Berry had joined to improve the midfield & creativity was not one of our strong points last season.5 -

Nicholas said:Looks a good signing, however we need wingers that can cross the ball none of our wingbacks barring maybe Edwards as never seen him play can cross the ball. Hopefully some proper wingers are on the shopping list.4

For some reason I like the look of Ahadme. A big unit which we need. Young. Looks like he can play a bit as well.Starting to take shape. Pre season starts on Saturday.2

Leaburn isn't injury prone and has just had 2 freak injuries in one season. Kanu was scoring every time he touched the ball for our youth teams and is another year older and wiser. Godden is proven goalscorer in this league and Adhame is young, looks to be a unit and have a bit of swagger about him and chuks (whenever he is fit) is one of the best in the league. We looked stacked up front now. Get dobbo back, a proper creative midfielder in and a couple of wingers to be able to change it up when it isn't going well and I think we could be in for a very good season2
-
Having some decent forwards can only help our defenders in training.
I like him a lot but please stop with the 'Chuks is the best in the league'. You need to prove yourself to be able to compete physically and mentally over 40 games to earn that tag. Not extrapolate a short sample (of minutes and games).0 -
Good signing, assuming he is fit, stays fit etc he is a handful1
-
Watched the lads goals from last year on YouTube.
He looks decent and he looks great in the air.
All we need now is players that can cross a ball, because he will be on the end of the most of them.
I think we have done really well with this bit of business.1 -
Again I am delighted with the ownership.
Big money statement signing.0 -
If anything, we won’t be a soft touch next season. Recall last season Kirk falling to the ground (and staying on the ground) against an eighth tier club while the opposition were attacking. It was embarrassing. Jones won’t stand for that and it won’t happen with the units he’s bringing in.7

Unit with presence I'd describe him.
I like the look of him. Will give us the bit off steel up top we've so desperately needed
Knows where the goal is. Scores from set pieces and can take a penalty.
Expect signings who can cross the ball well0 - Sponsored links:

Overlooked question of mine earlier… who was the last non uk/Ireland player who played for Charlton … Naby Sarr?
NB AMB aside Australian feels local to me.1 -

Had to check Wikipedia but we had a few last season, and there have been others since Sarr left such as Pape Souare and Juan Castillo.2 -

Dijksteel and Hemed played in Sarr’s last season too. Though Dijksteel left right at the start after the odd appearance.3 -
