  • Fleming would be just as underwhelming as Appleton .
Exactly. 55 years old and his only job was managing for a year in India.

Nigel pearson to work with his assistant Fleming again?
Think so. Seems to me that Fleming was installed to get an understanding of what needs doing and when the inevitable sacking of Appleton happens, the new man (Pearson) can hit the ground running. That’s what I think anyway.

What will Conor’s parents think about if he is gone ? 😉😆😆

Mrs Coventry said as he didn't like her pot of tea he can do one !
  • I called a Pearson appointment, if this comes off I'd like to say I'm not ITK, but would like a promote :)

Assuming Appleton does not ride the storm, I am sure Fleming has been brought in with an eye on the current situation and the possibility of a change of manager.

The timing of his appointment I feel was telling.  Appleton probably sees himself as a dead man walking.

He looks like a dead man walking.

Name sounds familiar. I think I remember him having a spell at Doncaster as well.
  • It’s obviously not working but I’m sorry to say that I just don’t think Appleton is close to the sack. Presumably Scott and Methven were the people that chose him and I think they’ll give him the chance with the new squad to turn it around.
All three of them have to go.

    Scott particularly.

I am on the fence over Appleton.
I keep looking back over the last 17 years and asking myself where has sacking 18 managers/ first team coaches has got us.  None of the above proved successful or one of them would have got more than 2 seasons.
So want do we need in a manager to be able to succeed at Charlton.

It's more about the owners imo.

Having said that this is a problem throughout football, not just us.

Appleton needs to go! Not sure about Fleming though. Too much of a risk. Can we afford that risk?

We were told Coventry signed only after Scott and Appleton went to his parents house.

You assume Scott did the talking ! 😀

Just googled to learn more about this Euell fella and apparently, he is the all time top premier league goal scorer with a surname beginning with E!

I’m not sure it would curry favour with our fan base.

Should resign and then everyone saves face.
Would'nt you just put up with the grief to ensure you got paid a 2 year contract when they finally do tap you on the shoulder....
  • Pearson wouldnt fit the set of players we have for 3-5-2/5-3-2 - his style is suited to 4-2-3-1 which means RW for Alfie May and no CBT on the left.... If MA goes I can see us going for Paul Heckingbottom his 3-5-2 at Sheff Utd worked in the Champioship.

Bit of artistic license from Scott there. "First time we have had a set piece coach". Its the first time we've had a coach with that in his title sure but we've pretty much always had one of the first team coaches responsible for set pieces. When Bow was in charge it was Jacko.

It's not like we have a dedicated full time set piece coach. He is still first team coach as well so it's not like the responsibilities have changed. Just the title.

Scott hasn’t said anything insightful or useful since he’s been with us .

I like Fleming- his affable demeanour was a blessed relief after Appleton in his brief spell as caretaker manager .  He must be good too - Jones wouldn’t have kept him for the sake of it .
