An elegant player one of the best midfielders in the world in his prime. As already mentioned Sir Alf wanted him nullified so instructed ‘Our Kid’ Booby Charlton to man mark him during the 1966 World Cup final which effectively reduced the match to 10 aside and the rest is history.RIP the Kaiser.0

Such an elegant player and with an air of the aristocrat about him - well he was certainly football aristocracy.One of the all time great footballers and for me just behind Bobby Moore as the greatest central defender I've ever seen (although he was more of a sweeper) - and I believe they were great friends. Not too shabby as a manager either.Rest in Peace Kaiser0
