Great news Covered End, you must be very relieved to hear that positive prognosis and a bit apprehensive all at the same time.
If you have now promised yourself to make the most of life after that scare then make sure you do.
I don't really think I followed up on that promise to myself 34 years ago.1 -
Good news Lancashire Lad. I hope your good lady has many trouble-free years ahead.2

This photo is of my friend Tomaš Vydra. He has an anorak rock show on Prague's Radio 1, and this evening he invited me to guest on his Christmas special. And what has that to do with CL, let alone this thread? Well in late October Tomaš underwent a pretty hefty operation for prostate cancer. The prognosis is good, but the recovery involves, to put it mildly, a lot of personal hassle. Everyone deals with cancer in their own way, they say. Tomaš regards it as an offence to his personal liberty, same as he regarded the Communists who persecuted him for wanting to listen to Jeff Beck. He missed just one of his weekly shows since the op. Half way through tonight, he played a track long enough to let him nip to the loo to change his diaper. I am in awe at his resilience but music brings him great joy and he is determined to keep doing the job that allows him to spread the joy around. It was wonderful to be in the studio with him. It made me think of all the stories here and I thought maybe his story will be a small inspiration. I wish you all a Happy Christmas and many more to come.21

lancashire lad said:more positive news here as whilst the stem cell transplant did not take place the tests show that the chemo worked and the Lass is currently cancer free, it will probably return so she will be monitored

Good evening all, I just wanted to give you an update on my progress. I went for my 20th radiotherapy session today, with just 5 more to go this week.
I was, surprisingly, called in to see the cancer consultant (radiotherapy dept), and also booked to have some blood tests, again not planned.
My meeting with the consultant went along these lines "we are very pleased with your progress, and the symptoms you are now telling us about, your last session of treatment will be Friday, and after that, providing your blood tests come back in good order you CAN "ring the bell"!!
Basically, I'll have no more treatment but will have a scan in 6 to 8 weeks time. If the scan shows the tumour has gone, I'll have further tests to confirm cancer has completely gone, if not and part of the tumour is still there, I'll be referred to the surgical dept to discuss removing whatever is left. I still have a bit of a journey and need to rebuild my fitness, BUT if I can 'ring the bell' on Friday morning it'll be a massive battle to have won.
Thanks again for the support from everyone on this forum, you REALLY did get me through the lowest point in my life last September and October.
Live, Love, Laugh and Be Happy xxx
Cheers
Malc xx
EDIT- if I ring the bell on Friday, I'll video it and publish on here later that day!48 -
Well done Malc.
The Lass's consultant told her last week that her blood tests are normal and she is cancer free and will have blood tests every 3 months, she just has to rebuild her fitness after all the chemo.
Lets hope we can all live, love and be happy31 - Sponsored links:

Good afternoon all. I just wanted to let you know that today I got to 'ring the bell'. It means my treatment is done, for now, I'll have a scan in 8 weeks time, if tumour has gone then that's it!
If not, then anything left will be removed by surgery.
Thank you to everyone for your support, best wishes and cards I couldn't have done it without you. I've won a big battle, but I now need to win the WAR!
