some new items today. A 1921 programme donated by the daughter of Duff Bruce, the player on the cover, some very modern but rare lounge and parking passes and a 1995 attendance card passed around the press seats at the Den to lets journalists know the attendance. It wasn't an enjoyable visit

If anyone has any skills and/or high grade kit around converting photographic negatives to digital (and has a LOT of time) we have a huge archive of Tom Morris's photos to convert.
Or if you have £50k going spare?
Having catalogued our ticket collection the next two projects are cataloguing our books and then our shirts. Any help welcome.

He was in hospital with gastritis and was too weak to move. I'll check up with him later today and see about tomorrow.Henry Irving said:
@AddicksAddict What happened to your Millwall friend? We'd already hired the defumigaters :- )AddicksAddict said:
I'll bring some along one Friday. A Millwall friend with a lot of Charlton memorabilia has decided to donate it all to the Museum because of the respect shown by Charlton over John Berylson's demise so I'll bring him along, too.CharltonAthMuseum said:No we don't so would be very grateful for any you have.

Negative scanners aren't very expensive, but it might take a minute or two to scan each neg.Henry Irving said:If anyone has any skills and/or high grade kit around converting photographic negatives to digital (and has a LOT of time) we have a huge archive of Tom Morris's photos to convert.

I got my Clash negs scanned by Snappy Snaps, and they did a decent job, but I imagine you mentioning the 50k means you've already investigated the pro route. I doubt if Snappy Snaps could cope with the volume anyway!0 -
We already have a negative scanner but as there are literally thousands we wondered if someone had access to a more industrious and quicker one - or are willing to undertake the task

I'm sure you've already checked out what's available, but these guys change 39p a neg, so 10,000 would cost £3,900. Not sure how many you have though. https://www.filmscanuk.co.uk/35mmfilm_to_CD.phpcafc999 said:We already have a negative scanner but as there are literally thousands we wondered if someone had access to a more industrious and quicker one - or are willing to undertake the task
This scanner might speed things up a bit?

I think the Tom Morris collection runs in to the higher end of the thousands bracket. We would love to get them done but the last quote roughly based on a cheaper figure then 39p per negative was around 50k!JamesSeed said:

@Solidgone now on display in the museum as part of a whole new display about the ValleyHenry Irving said:
Would love it.Solidgone said:I have just received this photo (60cm x 42cm) from a friend in Milano but I don’t have anywhere to put it. I don’t want it to be kept in a cupboard forevermore. It’s a good shot of the ground in amongst London which I’ve not seen before and was wondering whether the museum would like to have it.
Have a new display planned that would fit in nicely

This one scans four negs at a time, and ‘removes scratches and dust automatically’.Henry Irving said:

More like it but I can't see any mention of speed0

Henry. You can buy a film scanner for about £250-300.I bought a Epson and done all my negatives.

We have around 30 to 50 negatives PER GAME over five decades plus photos from launches, promotional events, dinners, training, etc etc.
So we need something to process them on an industrial scale and speed.0 -
OK!sorry you will need a professional company.

It seems to me that an interim solution, while you are seeking an affordable but quicker answer, might be to adopt the "ants eating an elephant" approach.(sorry - made a mess of quoting!)
ie, split the huge number of negatives into manageable sized parcels (say, 500 negatives?) and ask for volunteers who have their own scanner to take responsibility for scanning and returning (perhaps within 2 months?). If you can get and retain 10 volunteers on that sort of basis for a year, you'll take a decent bite out of the mountain of negatives requiring to be scanned.
