There is a fine play called ‘Comedians’ that is thought provoking and explores the nature of comedy. The play may seem a bit dated now but it is very good.

BTW, who's the arbiter on which comedian is clever enough to take the piss out of people with learning difficulties and what's the benchmark of cleverness to be considered by the arbiter?

I saw Gervais last year and three fights broke out in the audience at different times due to protesters.

Lol nobody is dictating anything, I'm expressing an opinion without being personal or pissy.

Jim might be a highly intelligent human being, with nuanced opinions about global issues. But he doesn't express them or come across like that on his podcast while talking about army's of foreigners over here taking jobs and money.. moaning about woke cows at the Council that pulled his show from Torquay.

Not too offended by his jokes, “I took the wife out last night; one punch! Is funny.... until you know he was done for domestic abuse.

That was the exact situation in my house. I remember him looking at me and just shaking his head. I mean, how can the hairdresser's expedition to Mount Everest not be funny?

“People mistake the subject of a joke with the actual target.”

My view is the “older” comedians don’t differentiate between the two.

All surveys are based upon samples; you can't ask everyone in the country, as you know full well.

I for one, can't wait to be culturally enriched. Living in the 3rd world will be 'vibrant' and edgy, that's for sure. Just don't complain when the immigrants decide that the country is a bit too progressive for their liking and decide on a return to the iron age.
