2026 games currently without a host.

After Durban being dropped in 2022 too.

Think the Commonwealth Games may have sadly run their race.

6 of the last 7 have been in the UK or Australia, if Australia is now saying no to holding it, may well be done as you say.

Can't see anyone stepping in unless the format is drastically changed , can't even see Birmingham or London stepping up with the venues that already exist.

I wonder if we’ll transition it to a British Isles Games or something like that.

You think they should include the U21s from America, China etc?

I guess it depends how much you need to spend to support hosting the games. If major stadia/infrastructure investments are required then £870M in benefits will be outweighed by costs pretty quickly.

can't the king just make one of these ungrateful shit holes host it?

Birmingham wanted the wider upgrades to its sports facilities, so the cost played out nicely.

suspect London might be asked, and probably could do it pretty easily

Depends if West Ham allows us to use our stadium.

Don't really have a choice as UKA have rights to use the stadium, suspect it's more if the London Stadium has bookings for 2026 in place for the summer.

Surely if it clashes with the season they could groundshare with a neighbour?

Perhaps wet spam could groundshare with Orient while the commonwealth games are being played.

Or maybe Millwall sure the Met will approve, lots of weekend overtime.

Roland in the process of either renting out the valley to our east London neighbors or making a bid for the commonwealth games as we speak. Reason for the hold up on the takeover announcement.

A bit early for 2026 concert bookings I'd have thought, but I'm sure Ed Sheeran or Harry Styles could perform while the Commonwealth Javelin competition was going on. Just get the audience to duck at the right times

You wouldn’t need to do anything major venue wise in London, probably wouldn’t even have to expand

Where would you house the athletes and officials? Brum has a large amount of student housing in the universities, is there somewhere similar in London?

Guess put up an athletes village? Other than that, the Olympic venues will be a good start

I was going to go up to Birmingham to see some of the events, but then couldn't be bothered and just ended up watching some track cycling, which was held in London anyway  :)

Enough new student housing popping up around Stratford to be able to cope
