Like a lot of clubs we feel like one big family. John was like the lovable old uncle who kept everything in check. Everyone was always happy to see him

Although still at Lewisham my time at Millwall was done when he took over.
All my colleagues that met him told me he was a breath of fresh air there.
    Such tragic news.
    May he RIP ❤️

Terrible news. We don’t have enough truly benevolent owners in the game and John Berylson was quite obviously one of the good guys. Rest in Peace John.

    Such a weird feeling.

For me, our biggest rivals, hate the club, and hate the fans (not individuals obv). He's brought them stability and was steering them to great things leaving us quite far behind.

Yet, I honestly feel gutted to hear this news. I hope his family and the Millwall fans find some comfort in the fact even us lot are upset by this.

In a sport where grifters and charlatans seem to be the type of owner most clubs get, a gentleman like John Berylson was a real gift to the game, and given our own recent history, it was clear Millwall had not just an astute caring owner, but someone who genuinely appreciated the fans and their support. A sad day for football in general, and a terrible time for his family and friends, as well as everyone associated with Millwall FC.
RIP John, and thoughts for all who knew him.

I think this sums things up perfectly for me. He was certainly one of footballs good guys.

Bro-in-law dropped round my nephew this morning, he's been a Millwall ST holder for years.  He was close to tears when he was talking about him.  Proper upset.  He was out last night and I'd forwarded him the club statement.  I felt terrible breaking news like that to him.

One of the best owners in the business, who actually got the fact the club is about the fans.
I think all of us can agree we'd like the likes of him at our clubs.

    RIP John.

Any indication as to what will happen next, does he have a son or someone to pass the club to? Or will it likely have to be sold?

We Charlton fans, have of course been envious at the way they have been run by John their owner,if only all or at least one of our owners had read the same manual & had the same affection,we hopefully would not have been in this situation we are in now,but as for right now too the Millwall fans, community, family & friends of John,we truly are sorry for your loss…RIP John, your true Millwall legend

It won't be for everyone but, for those of you that wish to leave a message, there is an online book of condolence that will be passed on to his family.

    https://www.millwallfc.co.uk/news/2023/july/05/book-of-condolence/

Still can't wrap my head around it and find myself welling up at random intervals.
