Charlton fans in strange places….

Laying on a busy beach at St Ives, can hear a big family plotting up right next to us so stand up to have a nosey. I’m wearing a Charlton leisure top and straight away get greeted with a loud ‘red army’. Another Charlton family, from Swanley. Small world11

St Ives used to be the hang out of artists and aesthetes.AFKABartram said:Laying on a busy beach at St Ives, can hear a big family plotting up right next to us so stand up to have a nosey. As I was going to St Ives

Charlton and Dumbarton; proper glory hunters you twoaddickson said:Just bumped into a fellow addick, Charlie, in Dumbarton Library. We were at a talk by Daniel Gray, as part of Dumbarton FC’s 150th anniversary celebrations. Dumbarton are the closest (at least by road/rail) team to Charlie (right of pic) and he has started following us this season. Small world!!

Well we met up with the niece of the man who got his mates together to start Charlton Athletic (Eddie Marshall).
Speaking with her and her husband was interesting to say the least.2 -

What don’t you understand @SoundAsa£0

A niece of a man who started the club…..way back in the early 1900’s.
Rather unlikely that a niece and her husband of his would still be alive I’d have thought…..maybe I’m wrong here?
Plus I’ve never heard of Eddie Marshall…..by the sounds of it, perhaps I should have done?1 -
Yes you should.

Thanks - don’t know the circumstances behind you having one image but just thought it was really interesting and fascinated by the circumstance of a 15 year old starting a team in 1905 and less than 30 years later seeing 75,000 people watching them play.Lewis Coaches said:

Reckon he could be a Marshall from my mums side. My nan and grandad lived in 648 Woolwich Road opposite the Vic (where we then lived up until I was 16) and Harden Court is just along opposite the Millionaire / Dockers, so reckon Harden Street was possibly there. Considering mum's family populated a lot of the area, mostly Mirfield Street and Holgate Street down by the river, got a feel he's one of the clan.
I've just asked my uncle. He'll know6 -
That newsagents by where you lived done the best bacon/sausage rolls.1
