Morning all, I'm just letting you all know that I've not been well for the last few months, in the toilet department. I contacted my Dr last week and told her what has been going on, the discussions revolved around 'Microscopic Colitis', Crohn's disease and of course Bowel Cancer.
I have been put on the Cancer express route, I have blood tests and stool tests this coming Friday, which will be followed by a colonoscopy sometime soon, (no I'm not looking forward to that...in fact I'm scared!)
The reason I'm sharing is for one major reason only.....when I had my heart issue 8 years ago (can you believe its 8 years ago!!) and was on deaths doorstep..... @TCE kindly shared my situation and you all made comments that were positive and kept me going. You still have no idea how much that helped me to this day.
Now, this is not a shout out for comments at this time, as I'm hopeful it'll be Crohn's or Colitis, but I just wanted to let you know what is going on. I will of course keep you all updated, but for now I still thank you all for 8 years ago.
    Many thanks Malc (RedM)

Well I'm going to comment anyway RM, so there.
Wishing you the very best that it turns out to be something easily fixed or managed, and nothing remotely serious. And well done for getting it checked out in the first place.

All the best Redmidland. Keep us posted on the investigations and results. Wow, is it 8 years ago you had the heart issue? Sending very positive vibes.

All the best Malc and fingers crossed for the most positive outcome for you.

I am going to give you a minor telling off for not speaking to your doctor sooner though, but I'm sure I'm not the first!

Always hear if you want a chat Wally, so much respect for someone that served in two world wars and yesterday enjoyed his second coronation. 😉
Much love from us both. X

Rm I have colitis and consequently have had 5 colonoscopies.
Generally you can be asleep or awake.
I've had both and quite honestly there's little to choose, but possibly preferred staying awake.
It honestly doesn't hurt, it's just a bit uncomfortable.
The clear out prep the day before is arguably worse. It's handy to have some of that cream they use for babies to prevent ring sting.
    Best wishes.

Good luck RM and hoping all the news will be positive. As others have said the colonoscopy is a little uncomfortable but doable and if you get the chance to watch it do so as it’s amazing

When you take the drink the night before to empty your bowl do not wander to far from a toilet as the stuff works very well and for quite a long time. Make sure you are well stocked with very soft toilet tissue

Best wishes Red, for what it’s worth, a colonoscopy isn’t that bad, just a bit of a pain in the arse.

I think i saw the name @Bedsaddick pop up as being online yesterday. Thats a good sign. But if you are looking in now and again, Beds, dont waste your time with the takeover thread - jump straight to the last page and save yourself some wasted hours.
I hope youre feeling better each day, and continuing best wishes for your recovery.

I’m still in hospital. Seven weeks and counting . I have a kink in my lower intestine after the operation which is stopping me being able to eat . I’m hoping to go home with a feed drip soon and the kink will naturally sort itself out . I’m going absolutely stir crazy stuck in hospital this long.

All the best mate, stay strong. As frustrating as it must be being in hospital for that long, you’re in the right place.

I feel for you beds. Mrs Idle would stop me doing anything vaguely physical for twelve weeks following my op, and I've been itching to just get on with things. (finished painting the outside of the kitchen today so a bollocking looms). And I'm not even in hospital, so god knows how you're putting up with it.
But you ARE in the best place with the prospect of release, so it's just a case of patience for a bit longer. Best of luck with getting out soon.

Really good to hear an update Beds, probably not what you want though.
Hoping all the chat on here is keeping you entertained especially the takeover thread.
My mother in law has just come out of a 6 week stay in hospital where her bowel actually went to sleep, (didn’t realise that was a thing) after her operation for stomach cancer so it was quite awhile before she could eat again.
She is in her mid 80’s and home again now so hopefully you’ll be home soon enough.
Continuing to wish you and your family all the best.

Thinking of you Beds, I did 3 weeks and was going mad. Watched all the series of Prison Break, looking back was a definite subconscious message in there. You’re in the best place, hang in there.
