Welcome news and with the mini WC break in fixtures may not miss more than a sending off period of games. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻2

What happened to his injury only being weeks rather than months? We are at six weeks and counting…
League record with him: played 17, lost 4
League record without: played 4, lost 36 -
Hope he is back soon. Lavelle and Innis for me is right up there with worst centre back pairings we've had and I remember Dailly and Doherty0

Training with the group for the past couple of days

Probably kills the need to get a center half in. Unless we can get a really good one.Callumcafc said:Training with the group for the past couple of days

Notice we have U21 games on the 9th | 17th this month - Hopefully we can get him involved in one or two of them0
-
I still think we need one (if we can buy one for next season rather than a stop gap). But it would be contingent on Lavelle leaving.Cafc43v3r said:

Of course we need at least 2 in the summer, but have needed more than one for the last 4 windows. O'Connell, Innis, Ness and Thomas should be enough to get us through now though.cafcfan1990 said:

It's baffling that we haven't been using these games to improve our senior players fitness until now11

good news if he'll be available again soon.0

Agreed but be nice if we can get one in now. Should just be alright but realistically we have no idea how Thomas and Ness will do.Cafc43v3r said:

Spot on, proper bizarre and that’s been the case for some time.Chunes said:It's baffling that we haven't been using these games to improve our senior players fitness until now1 -
It's been quite frankly outrageous. I really can't understand why. Last season Albie Morgan didn't play a game at all for 3 months.Chunes said:It's baffling that we haven't been using these games to improve our senior players fitness until now
It's a win win because Deji and Mitchell would have learnt a lot playing with Thomas yesterday.
If the u21s play early in the week and we have no midweek game we should play as many as possible that didn't get minutes at the weekend. I just don't get it all.1 -
And the kids benefit from having senior pros alongside them too3
-
I agree with you - but on the other hand, I would guess that in U21 games it's also important for a Development youngster to get their games in also.Cafc43v3r said:

For each senior player in the U21 lineup, there's an U21 player who doesn't get a game - and also perhaps in successive games if his position is regularly filled by a senior needing match practice.
It is a Development team playing in a Development league, rather than the old style Reserve team where
Seniors could build match practice and the youngsters gained valuable experience alongside them.

But for the last 2 or 3 seasons we haven't really had many u21s. Most of our u21 teams have been made up of u18s.Oggy Red said:

You can only play 3 overaged outfield players anyway so I think that's a consideration but not a reason to not do it at all. I think JFC played one u23 game, I remember Lavelle and Morgan playing one or two each. If a player hasn't played, for what ever reason, for months it's not fair to chuck them straight back into the first team. Probably doesn't help the injury situation either.0 -
It's not baffling. It's an inherent part of our constant 'unlucky' run with injuries, each season.0
-
Pleased to see him get a few minutes right at the end.

Had his contract at Wrexham cancelled by mutual consent.
Wrexham seem to have mutually terminated quite a few contracts this summer. Looks like they couldn't get a fee for the players so rather than be stuck with them they've cut their losses and agreed to pay them off to get rid of them.8 -
I’d imagine he’ll find a league one club pretty easily.0

You have to do that before the window closes don't you or he can't join another club till the next window? I assume they did.2

Surely you can't cancel a contract of a player and they can't work for 4 months?!Athletico Charlton said:You have to do that before the window closes don't you or he can't join another club till the next window? I assume they did.3 -
He can sign for a club but not play. Although what L1 or L2 would do that.Unless he agreed to have his contract terminated before the deadline but has since been agreeing terms. Not sure if that’s possible though1
-
He would now be a free agent (not under contract to a club), so he can join a new club anytime.3
-
Not if he was released after the deadline.Valiantphil said:He would now be a free agent (not under contract to a club), so he can join a new club anytime.
It stops clubs effectively agreeing transfers by any other name outside of the window.3 -
Considering he left us within about a month of it becoming clear the new manager didn't see him as a starting centre back I get the feeling he just really, really hates not playing. Not a horrible trait to be honest1
-
Because it was part of that dark period for us I still can’t remember if he was actually any good4
-
Also he must have something lined up as there’s no way a professional football is just going to leave a contract without a new team. Additionally a team is not going to sign someone who can’t play until January especially with limited league 1/2 budgets0
-
Always thought that he was very average for us and nothing that I've seen of him at Wrexham has changed that opinion.3
-
He's hardly been left by the side of the road with his sandwiches wrapped in a map. He's got enough cash from the termination probably not to have to worry about playing for a while, so a few months till January is hardly going to have him down the foodbank2
