Really shocked and saddened to post this. I’m afraid to say that sadly one of our Lifers Charlton Dan passed away suddenly this week.
Dan would be known to many on here. Though he hadn’t been actively posting in the last two years, Dan was a member on here from the very first day in 2006 and before that was a legendary poster on the Netaddicks forum.
He was a good guy and good company. I know many on here will have some fabulous memories involving Dan.
He was only in his 40s. Heartbreaking. All our thoughts go with his wife and two children.
RIP Dan

Absolutely gutted to learn about this.
So many hilarious memories with Dan throughout the years, many of which will come out on this thread no doubt. Massive wind-up merchant online, brilliantly funny and kind guy in real life.

His Dad passed away a few years ago as well. He was more of a legend than Dan. :-)DaveMehmet said:That's awful, he was a really nice guy. Not sure if his dad is still alive but he was a top bloke as well.0 -

Few of us off here just before before Covid reared it’s head. Charlton Dan’s the one back left with the big smile. We’d had a cracking post-game meet up in the Swan with loads of laughs.71 -

Had the pleasure of meeting Dan once or twice such sad news.

This news has hit me like a juggernaut, Dan was a personal friend of mine and never anything other than amazing company. Ive got stories featuring Dan as the star attraction that never fail to make me laugh out loud 15 plus years on.
Football and especially this forum is a funny thing, on the Internet its usernames and hard to place context, then real life happens and its "the big dude who can launch a beer bottle the entire length of Borough Market" its "the bloke who has the same surname as the man who does voice of the valley" and in the case of Charlton Dan, its one of the warmest, funniest, loving people you could hope to be fortunate enough to meet via a friend of a friend who persuaded me to sign up for a website where people chatted bollocks, occasionally about Charlton Atheltic.
Dan and his father rest both of their souls are part of my Charlton patchwork quilt of genuine, lifelong friendships. One of the last times I saw and spoke to Dan was when Nimer was taking over and as we stood chatting, Dan kept calling him "his excellency" I kept giggling at this and he said to me "Carter, why are you such, such a c*nt, all of the time" and we pissed ourselves laughing.
Dan has a wonderful family and a little girl who isn't so little now but in my head remains the little human who me and my group for a period of time were very fearful of her well-aimed shin kicks whilst finding it hilarious when she found another target mainly @RedArmySE7 when she decided his shins were most fun to attack
Rest in peace mate, love you brother75 -
