Why? Not a chance IMHO.sam3110 said:You all know what I mean, I think he'll abdicate almost immediately5 -
I think it'll be small insult to his Mum's work if he immediately abdicated3

An amazing loyal lady. RIP Her Majesty.1

RIP to a true bastion and icon of our times, thank you for your diligence and service.2

So sad. She was a magnificent Queen and matriarch of our country. Such a wonderful woman and fantastic role model. Never complained and gave so much joy to many many people.

He's 73, and I think he'll want to hand it off to his Son William pretty quickly tbh2

That is how it hit me - it felt as if it was coming all afternoon, but it was still a hammer blow when the news came on.AFKABartram said:Considering it was patently obvious a couple of hours ago she had died, I can’t believe how numb and sad I feel on the confirmation.
The most amazing, remarkable woman. Even anti-monarchists I’m sure would agree you could not have a better Queen.God Save The Queen

There is no reason to abdicate.
In any case that is for another thread, not here.8 -
What a reign, amazing duty.

RIP, a very sad day. It became obvious that everyone knew and was waiting the official announcement, but the news was still a massive shock .
It was well coordinated that the Buckingham Palace flag was at half mast just before the announcement was made, you could see the crowd outside reacting to this2 -
What amazing service. Such a sad day for our country. RIP your majesty.1

Does our money have to be changed now?0

All previously printed notes will continue to be rolled out into circulation but new ones going forward will be printed with the King (I would guess)EugenesAxe said:Does our money have to be changed now?

its these things that make us realise how she was the golden thread running through our lives.3 -
I remember as a 7 year old, being taken by my family to Trafalgar square to see her coronation in 1953.My parents chose Admiralty Arch to watch the procession pass.
Weirdly the only detail I remember is a pigeon leaving a deposit on my head & shirt.
I have a massive sense of loss. R.I.P.11 -
RIP Queen Elizabeth, truly the Best of British1
