Both him and Dervite likely to start against Charlton tonight.1

Shows how far we have come. Starting to see a gap between us and the bottom teams in the Championship (on paper at least). Would expect us to win tonight.flyingkiwiDK said:Both him and Dervite likely to start against Charlton tonight.

A reminder to all those youngsters in sport who get rejected that this doesn't have to be the end for them. And a lesson to all those who think they've made it but fail to put in enough effort despite their talent.

Yes cos we all know the pinnacle of any aspiring young footballer is to walk out at the valley wearing the famous red kit of Charlton Athletic.Addick Addict said:A reminder to all those youngsters in sport who get rejected that this doesn't have to be the end for them. Top fella and very very complimentary about all his time at Charlton

Mine was more a joke on how he made it back to Charlton and his advice of never giving up to reach that dream. (Of playing for the mighty Charlton)Addick Addict said:
And he got to play three seasons in the second tier of English football doing so. I wonder what percentage of youngsters that start playing football at the age of eight or nine are that successful?Karim_myBagheri said:

Of course very few will make it. Very few will even make it to playing professional football. Most will have to move it to a hobby and find other work.
Always like Wilson. Thought he was underated. A mate of mine used to slag him off all the time which made me more defensive of him. Met him once when he was playing for ebbsfleet. Nice fella.

I remember him catching my eye for his all energy style, not knowing his background at the time, when he played for Stevenage at the Valley. He was their standout player, they only just missed out on promotion and he ended up playing 56 games for them that season. The following year he was back with us in the Championship.1 -

Mate of a mate was so bitter about being released by Charlton at 16 that he became a Palace fan!
He bounced around non-league for a while (Sittingbourne, VCD), but you could see why he didn't make it as a pro despite his ability and pace.2 -

Was due to clear my cupboard out! I cannot promise when Pelling, but i will dig the box out. Generally bought them to frame back in the day so not sure of sizes. Will take a look and PM you if I find anything suitable.
