The above is not meant to be taken seriously. If you're thinking of going full retard then, please, don't.11 -
Yes, we did do that this morning and closed them when the outside temperature was higher than indoors.CharltonKerry said:
Probably won’t work tomorrow as night time temperature is to high. Prior to say around 9 am have all your doors and curtains opens in the rear. Open all your windows at the front at get a through draft going, the lower morning ambient will lower your room temperatures considerable. When the outside ambient is 3 or 4 degree lower shut the doors, curtains etc,. My garden is the same as yours and using this method the house temperature is normally 21 to 23c which slowly rises to around 26.ME14addick said:I'm following the advice given to close all windows and doors, pull curtains and blinds etc and it does appear to be helpng so far
I'm working from home today and the room faces south, has windows at either end and a patio door on the other wall, which is in the sun all day. Normally I would have a door open and the temperature often reaches over 30C when it is lower than that outside. Today with everything closed, a desk fan and tower fan on my back, the temperature is 29C. The outside thermometer which isn't in the sun yet is showing 35C.
My desk thermometer is now on 30 and I expect it will go higher as the afternoon progresses.1 -
Don't be such an idiot. It's the 5G rollout making it hotter. Obvs.BR7_addick said:We never had 40 degrees heat before the vaccine rollout, makes you wonder doesn’t it..
We never reached 40 degrees in this country until they started putting those masts up.3 -

My thermometer only goes to 50, it's in the sun and has been on 50 since about 1pm.0

Well it gives us a great opportunity for the game "rate my legs". Universal across the sexes and orientations. (Obviously not for people without legs but they of course can judge others (unless their blind, it's all going a bit Johnny got his gun here))
Other day I was in herne hill. Have to say some pretty stiff competition. Today in tonbridge a bit more open in the field. Not to say it was an easy decision as judge (I wear jeans so as not to demoralise the contestants) as there was some hefty legs on show but I have narrowed it down to at least several different pairs of legs. One pair was in I presume a cross between a pair of shorts and a sanitary towel. Another pair though good unfortunately ruined it by sitting in the sun on a previous day with fish net stockings on. The lines were visible but only from a closer inspection.
It's gonna be tough but people still have a few more weeks to enter.0 -
If it gets any hotter I will have to go full monty until wife and kids get homeBR7_addick said:

Same here it's gone as far as it can go, past 50c, the one in the shade has now gone up to 39c. I'm recovering from Hastings Pirate Day (yesterday) but tomorrow we are off to the beach.Rob7Lee said:My thermometer only goes to 50, it's in the sun and has been on 50 since about 1pm.0 -

You have to use a special thermometer to measure the temperature in the sun as all you are doing is measuring the effect of the sun on the glass.HastingsRed said:

Does it even look like the record is going to go today for England after all of this?
Wales has hit their one - but seem a fair way off in England at present which is 38.7 if memory serves me right.0 -
Just took the barometer that I inherited from my Dad out of the hallway and put it in direct sunlight in the garden for 2 minutes - the thermometer maxed out at 40, so no idea what the true temperature is yet - I wait the sun on the patio thermo in due course, which goes up to 50

Yes I realise it's not actually 50+ the one in the shade is about right I'd guess around 38-39c.Hex said:

I think you may be right. The hottest place in the UK yesterday was Nantwich and apparently the higher temperatures tomorrow will be in the north and north west.HastingsRed said:
