Need another LB option badly. I imagine we'll rely on the full backs for our attacking width1

You completely missed the point I was trying to make i.e. that everyone can make a mistake once in awhile.golfaddick said:
You mean the bloke that scored on his debut for Spurs, West Ham, England, Juventus and every other team he ever played for.SoundAsa£ said:
I saw Jimmy Greaves do that as well.Chunes said:

I think you’re doing Stockley an injustice there…..he’s pretty good with link up play and with the ball on the floor, better than the majority of ‘up top’ League 1 strikers I’d say.sam3110 said:
But we need better than Stockley to lead the line. He's too one dimensional, our first choice striker needs to be better on the floor and with his feet than Jayden is nowGarrymanilow said:
People won't be happy until we have 5 first team level strikers better than what we currently have to compete for one spot. If you're playing one up front you need one striker. You need a backup for that striker for injuries or poor form. You then need another striker so that you still have a bit of depth of the bench to cover those injuries and losses of form. After that it's good to have another backup, which will always be a youth player because no-one is coming in to be 4th choice in a one striker team. Stockley is a good first choice. Aneke is the best sub you can have at this level. He'll get injured, which is why we should upgrade on Davison, but we should not pay well above the odds for a third choice. After that of course Leaburn is our fourth choice, it doesn't matter that he hasn't played a league game, he has to start somewhere and we need a pathway for young players. Sandgaard is in no rush because we're looking for the best possible backup striker and we're not going to spaff huge amounts of the budget on bringing in a player who we don't actually need every week.golfaddick said:
Deluded if anyone thinks that those 4 would be good enough to get us into the top 6.ForeverAddickted said:

One hasn't played a league game in his life
One we loaned out to a lower league club & although did ok hardly set the house on fire
One has a history of not being able to play 90 mins
One had a back injury last season & only played 30 odd games.
Jesus.
Greavsie was of course an absolute genius.
Incidentally, he played for Milan not Juventus and also scored in his first game at age 17 for Chelsea in a 1-1 draw with Spurs.

I don't. I suspect that Clare will be our right back and we will play 3 in possession, 4 out of it. I look forward to the Fraser, Kirk, SS triangle that is potentially brewing on the left.killerandflash said:Need another LB option badly. Did you get an answer to if you can watch the game back later on CATV (I think you asked earlier?) cos I can't watch in Saturday.1 -
Wasn't me who asked that!Cafc43v3r said:

I suspect not, as there are no full match replays for the other pre season games0 -
Woops sorry someone did.killerandflash said:

Nothing in Alan Nixon's story shocker4

Is Jack Ross lightly to do us any favours after what we did to him at Sunderland?0

I don't want to clog this thread up with non-rumour posts, but he was at Charlton until 2020.Jac_52 said:The Colchester right back in the second half Junior Tchamadeu looks a prospect. Only 18 and looked like he had better than league 2 potential tonight.
We either let him leave or he chose to go to Colchester. No disrespect to the U's, but I think it was the former.1 -

Would be disappointed in one sense, think there's a really good player in there, but have the injuries caught him up?
If Garner doesn't feel he's needed, let Garner choose.6 -
Said just yesterday that he'd likely only be a squad player this year. No doubt he wants to be playing after so long injured.
Rather Gilbey left than him, though.9 -
My worry is that JFC could struggle with the high press due to said injuries and his body not handling it.
I like him and he would go with my best wishes but he always struck me as a player who prefers to sit and dictate play.3 -
Would be disappointed to see JFC leave IF IF IF it happens.
Class player but can see the logic in that he's had injuries, is probably on a fair wedge and we now have other players in his position.
It does make you wonder why the option was taken up on deal but I guess that at the time we hadn't signed those other players and we had a different manager.
Still hope he stays and as ever WIOTOS5 -
Garner obviously doesn’t rate him v the other options0
-
Really wouldn’t be surprised if it was Jackson whose interested in signing him.5
-
Not a player I would want to lose, but with the options we have in the middle of the park I can see why it would make sense for both parties.0

Unpopular opinion, but I don’t think he’s as good as everyone makes out. I think he’s okay. I don’t quite understand what he’s done over the 5 years he’s been here to be seen as a cut above or too good for this league. He’s got a good level of understanding, has been brought up in football circles and is competent, but I have never got the buzz that others seem to have.I think he’s at his level in league one18

Top heavy in centre midfield, gets the wage bill reduced and a fee to boot as well.0

Only has one year deal and I suspect unlikely to sign a new contract?

I don't think Jake would start many games in the system we're playing. May also be a bit intense for him given his history. Wouldn't surprise me if Robinson is in for him.13

League One Stats Comparison
Gilbey
Played: 225
Goals: 20
Assists: 10
JFC:
Played: 96
Goals: 13
Assists: 106 -
It wouldn't be the end of the World for me, but would prefer to lose Gilbey.Cafc43v3r said:0 -
Would it open the door for Payne or do we think we’ll just keep the midfield as it is?7

You think Wimbledon is a realistic option?Red_Chester said:Really wouldn’t be surprised if it was Jackson whose interested in signing him.1 -
Probably rather stay south and knows jacko. They could offer him a longer contract with an option to leave for a certain fee vs a league 1 team who offer 1 year for a little bit more a week. He probably wants to get a big contract as possible knowing his injury record.Cafc43v3r said:

So, you think he might come down on us like a "ton of bricks" eh...

Not sure that is the case. The article doesn't say we're trying to off loan him because BG doesn't rate him.CafcSCP said:Garner obviously doesn’t rate him v the other options1 -
For me he’s a good L1 player and he would have got more game time than Lapslie, Reeves etc in 18/19 had he been fit.cabbles said:Unpopular opinion, but I don’t think he’s as good as everyone makes out. Dobson, Fraser, McGrandles and JFC feels like four first choice players for three positions. The first three all signed in the last year, are younger and on longer deals so I can see why he wants to explore his options.
Gilbey, Morgan and Clare are the squad players with Henry the u23 trying to overtake them. It would be nice if it means we can bring in Payne as I’d like to have the depth, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of other positions. Some will say it’s proof of “Skintgaard” but it’s the squad cap that limits us as well as the budget.1
