There's no chance Jack Payne would be playing in what was basically a Crawley Trialists side at Isthmian League East Grinstead last night.0

I'm not sure how effective "Garner-ball" is going to be with a squad full of non-scoring midfielders and that 4 up front, time will tell but I have my doubts10 -

Seems like it's a bad year for strikers, can't think of too many good ones who will be available.0 -
Wait and see what happens before we judge his words. We would all like to see options uo front but if we are playing 433 a quick goal scoring wide player is definitely more important0

One for those who watch the youth set-up:
Did Leaburn and Kanu play in the same team last season or were they in different age brackets?0 -

What is true is that it is probably best not to sound desperate for a striker. As a fan of his dad, I dearly hope Miles has a great career but it is wrong to put too much pressure on the lad. If he steps up then he steps up. It could be now, it could be later. When it happens, then you bank on it. The mistake we made last season was thinking the U23s could step up. It happens when it happens and when it does, that is the time you don't need another striker, midfielder etc...5

ML is older than DK by a year or so3 -

Exactly, why people have to rage blackout instead of seeing this I don't know. A month ago he said we'd sign no players untill the end... which turned out to not be the case.1 -
If the strikers don’t score then the other players will have to.

Something we have to consider is the fact that the best loans come late in the window as parent clubs leave the decisions until that time. Sandgaard has mentioned this so he must understanding. The best of these loans are not free and need a lot of work and hopefully we are working on some strong ones.0

Hopefully Miles and Josh will get some valuable minutes tonight against Colchester, as it will give a better benchmark as to how both could cope against proper EFL sides - Dartford on Saturday was impossible to tell, especially going by their Manager's comments, when he said that their team in the 2nd half was trialists and U18s.
The clips of the Sunderland Chairman, trying to sign Will Grigg on Deadline Day and paying vastly over the odds is probably a good example of how a lot of fans (at any clubs) would approach the Transfer Market.

I'm seeing a different side to TS and his public comment. The reason Cawley and others still ask him for a quote on how the tea was brewed is because a year ago you couldn't shut him up. He was a media dream. He was outspoken and at times outlandish on a number of key issues - from "blowing the league" to the 5 year plan to the "ladies" debacle.
Now I'm noticing he still speaks almost as much but he barely says anything of any substance or material opinion at all. He says things that are more slow-paced and sensible and often from the perspective of commending what or who we have. I listened to him speak on Saturday and thought the same. He struck the right balance between candid and respectful over Jokat for example.
I see this as a good thing. We all (him included) needed a lot less hot air and a focus on actual delivery.43 -

That’s just a part of football.2 -

One hasn't played a league game in his life
One we loaned out to a lower league club & although did ok hardly set the house on fire
One has a history of not being able to play 90 mins
One had a back injury last season & only played 30 odd games.7 -

There's a big distinction between 'not signing a striker' and 'not urgently signing a striker'. It's good to know he's not ruled out bringing one in but generally speaking the strikers are priority targets that get locked down early, if we don't want to fork out for a Cole Stockton or a McKirdy, then be prepared to have cast-off players that are only decided when clubs are settled.
Personally didn't like the latest release, Davison should be nowhere near our actual playing squad this year and Leaburn shouldn't have this much pressure on his shoulders, he should be with the U23s unless he is setting those games on fire also.3 -
It is unlikely, but personally I would love it if Davison scored 12 or 15 goals for us next season.
I base that on him being a good lad and a real trier, and some of the criticism has been harsh.17 -

But him going around saying we're actively looking for one would achieve nothing other than adding a few more zeroes to all wages/transfers/agents fees.
Playing it cool in public is a sensible enough tactic.12
