Sadly, John Gwynne lost his battle with cancer this morning.
A man with a unique voice that commentated on many sports. He was brilliant at it.
He was also very generous with his time, would always be happy to have a chat.
I’m gutted, I really am.
RIP Sir, thank you for everything ♥️

As a big darts fan absolutely gutted. My favourite commentator just as I was getting into darts. Seemed a real top bloke who will be sadly missed. A commentary legend in the world of sport ❤1

Sad news was a great commentator. RIP0

Such a shame to hear this. The guy could be talking about paint drying, but his enthusiasm in telling the story had you interested. Helped as he always seemed to have some lowly northern ground to report from on Soccer Saturday!!
I noticed he didn't commentate on the last couple of World Darts Championships - and with Nigel Pearson passing earlier this year, the darts commentary team has certainly taken a hit.

One of my favourite reporters. Just a couple of weeks after Harry Gration died too. RIP sir.1

A great voice and yet another loss to Darts commentary. Following on so quickly since we lost Nigel Pearson just a few months ago and further back Dave Lanning and Sid Waddell.2
