Can't blame it all on tiredness.
One goal in 4 games.
If it was in the right place, it would be just getting started, and we'd have played two friendlies already4 -
ForeverAddickted said:Shocking refereeing... Isnt there VAR in place? - It was for the Germany game!!1

Pickford
Walker - Maguire - Stones
X - Rice - X - Shaw
Foden - Kane - X
Three spots available because Alexander-Arnold | James - Bellingham | Phillips - Mount | Sterling | Saka havent done enough this month3 -
How much can we blame on players being exhausted from league and matches? Asking genuinely as this was a sorry affair0

Found him more effective this Nations League as an impact player1 -
The Coles have obviously read my analysis of Maguire's positioning on here and decided to pass it off as their own on TV1

Southgate is throwing himself under the bus to protect the players.
Some will say its fully deserved and that it is on him
I thought there were too many naive individual errors out there, and he's being clever to protect confidence in the squad1 -
started off as caretaker manager - got good results - made everyone feel optimistic and like things were going to change - players let him down like they did all the other managers before him. Questionable tactics.
lost four nil.

Agree with those who say he's earned the right to take us to the World Cup. Also believe no one else would now have time to really have a decent look at the players before then etc.
But I must admit I don't fancy our chances of doing much in the WC. The last two tournaments were the best chances we've had in a while (draw opened up in WC, then essentially a home tournament) and I don't think a boiling hot mid-season WC plays favours us much.
Think he could then go.1 - Sponsored links:

Only positive for me tonight, was the fact it wasn’t Nick Pope in goal!1

Haven't enjoyed watching England under Southgate. Nice bloke but limited in terms of tactics.
Last 4 games have been a reality check.

Belgium who were beat 4-1 at home (KDB actually said they don’t even wanna be there). The main focus is 5 months away in Qatar. Won’t stop a total overreaction towards the manager tho.
It's not an overreaction at all, when we've scored a penalty in 4 games, played terribly in most games and just had our worst home defeat for 94 years.
No one will deny Southgate has done well at the last 2 tournaments and i agree there's no way they're going to get rid 5 months before the world cup, but even the most positive of England fans has to be worried about what they've seen in the last 2 weeks. We've been dreadful.1 -
Great night for Hungary.
The point I have been trying to make for sometime is the possession stat is the most over rated stat going.
England had 69% possession.

Let’s hope we see a big reaction in September after a break, a balanced left sided player playing, Rice back in, and at least one creative wide forward starting. Southgate really needs to get those right cos that hype around a decent World Cup is fading fast.1

one bright spot - it will be fun watching Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and most modern Man U fans experiencing the feeling of relegation6

I think Southgate peaked at the Euros. We could and should of won that tournament. Italy's change of game plan, and our lack of response from GS, In that game ultimately cost the team psychologically.
He's been brilliant for England, I'm grateful for what he's achieved, reinstating the togetherness and spirit..now its for someone ( I don't have an immediate suggestion) to build on it with more tactical nouse.

Reminds me of the Adkins era towards the end. To many team changes from one match to the other. Select your best 11 & stick to it. If you can't because of tiredness/ 4 games in 10 days then say something at the time. Tell UEFA the schedule is crazy. If you not brave enough to speakup then deal with it.
Just seen the red card. Ha ha ha ha. Southgate should have just told the players to walk off. No-one has the bollox these days to stand up to officialdom.2 -

Let us give Hungary their due.
They beat us twice in a week. Ergo ~ they are better than us at football. All this bunkum about longseasons and Gareth Southgate badger being limited in tactics.
The Euros clearly showed us Southgate isn't the guy to win trophies ~ even when he is handed the trophy on the plate with arguably the best squad we have ever had, conspired to hand a pair of Italian octogenarians in the Italian defence a major trophy with our name on. An earlier comment is right ~ we will never get such an easy chance to win a major trophy.
After the Euros we clearly saw that we had only 4 men out there. The rest were elite athletic boys none of whom are leaders.
Trophies are won by leaders throughout the team.

Wonder if Ben Garner will get the gig, could be the quickest ascension to the England job, ever!0

Maguire, Kane, Henderson, Rice. The rest are all found out at International level. And even a few of these four are being found out now0

Pot pissing kettle...
Those two were part of the most embarrassing era of English Football
Especially when you hear Ferdinand / Gerrard talking about the club culture.
Some may have shown up, but to put club before country is unforgivable.
I agree on the culture, although it's mainly spoken about in terms of Liverpool v Man Utd, I'm not sure Ashley Cole fits into that. We're guessing how he felt but his performances in the major tournaments told me he had the right attitude that's for sure.1 -
