Replace Stockley with Stockton & we would have got promoted.BigRedEvil said:If it weren't for Stockley goals last season we probably would have been relegated
Stockley is too 1 dimensional. He'll get you 12-15 goals a season but wont get you 20+. Good in the air but average with his feet. You need someone alongside him as part of a front 2 & that person needs to be the 20+ a season scorer.
And Marquis isnt the answer5 -
I think you are being very kind in saying Stockley is average with his feet.golfaddick said:

Before Sheff W mentioned they were interested in Stockley people were complaining that we had a guitar playing owner with a massive ego employing his clueless son, no manager, no signings, half a dozen first team players yet suddenly people are saying Sheff W are our PROMOTION rivals!0
-
Stockley did get 20 goals despite missing a large chunk of the season with an injury and was exceptional defending set pieces and corners
Really don’t know what some people on here want from a league one striker if he was the complete striker he would be a premier league player14 -
Now Sheff Wed are saying there number one target is Michael Smith of Rotherham ….0
-
These fan made "recruitment plans" seem to be more and more popular over the last year or two... thought this Sheff Wed one was worth sharing since we're looking for similar players with similar talents.

And here's one done by an Ipswich fan (although reading some of the targets, there are ridiculously ambitious... taking players off Blackpool, Coventry, Rangers??? Wouldn't even happen in Football Manager)

Who said that Darren Moore? If so where.RonnieMoore said:Now Sheff Wed are saying there number one target is Michael Smith of Rotherham ….
Sheff Wed aren't saying that, nor are they saying they want Stockley. It's people speculating. You really need to learn the difference........1 -
Have the guys who are championing Stockton looked at his goal scoring record / it’s far worse than Stockley and he has only really ever had one good season which was last year. Swopping out Stockley for him would be bonkers6

Sheffield Wednesday are keeping tabs on the Rotherham United favourite this summer.
Smith, 30, sees his contract expire at the end of the month and is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal.

Your original post says:
"Now Sheff Wed are saying there number one target is Michael Smith of Rotherham …."
The article this is all based on says:
"Now, with his current deal set to expire at the end of June, it’s believed that a number of clubs in the Championship and League One are monitoring his situation closely – one of them being the Owls. ... But with Smith assessing his options going forward, indications are that his name has been mentioned at Wednesday as they look for fresh striking options, however there has been no word at this point whether it has gone any further than that at this stage."1 -
This season is the most relevant. He appears to be more well rounded than Stockley which could improve us. The question is has he improved or was it a one off?alburyaddick said:Have the guys who are championing Stockton looked at his goal scoring record / it’s far worse than Stockley and he has only really ever had one good season which was last year. D- would have been an E but at least you tried. Your original statement and the evidence say completely different things. But it's closer than your normal codswallop. Has the family moved or just changed your reading habits?RonnieMoore said:Cafc43v3r said:

Speaking of homework, how's your homework on quoting in context going? You never answered that did you.

Colin/Bexley Boy/Ronnie in not understanding what he's read and then misrepresenting AGAIN shocker

I think its because they can see his weaknesses and how he makes us play when hes up top and whether he gets 15+ goals or not individually if as a team we underperform or don't show what we need to regularly enough for promotion that's an issuesuperdulvertonred said:Stockley did get 20 goals despite missing a large chunk of the season with an injury and was exceptional defending set pieces and corners

rather a better all-round player who doesn't score as many goals but who helps the team play and perform better resulting in promotion at the end of it ideally1 -

What's the solution to stopping players hoofing it up to Stockley? Drop/get rid of Stockley like Adkins did, or get better players that can actually pass the ball?CharltontillidieCOYR said:

There will be an avalanche of quality new signings... Somewhere.0

Re your last paragraph, weren’t we potentially close to that with Washington?CharltontillidieCOYR said:

cafc4life said:Get rid of Stockley and I’m done I think. Build a side around him, don’t sell. Anyone thinking it’s a good move needs their head testing.
I agree, especially in League 1.
100% Jayden wants to stay in the South. He is/was so settled at Charlton that he wanted to finish his career at Cafc.
As has been reported Sheffield Wednesday made a bid before Stockley signed for Cafc. Because he enjoyed his time on loan from Preston he chose Charlton over going to Yorkshire.
Jayden doesn't want to move again as he now has 3 children and is settled where is lives on the Surrey/Kent border. If he wasn't wanted by Charlton as the new manager doesn't fancy his type of a centre forward then a player moves on. That is the life of a Professional Footballer.
To lose Washington may be regarded as Misfortune, to lose Stockley as well would be carelessness.

I wonder what’s happening with Tucker from Gillingham?
A couple of months ago JJ’s dad told me that he would ‘definitely’ be playing for us next season.
Of course JJ’s gone now, so that idea may be a busted flush?1 -
Yes mate ideally we would get better players but that will need alot of quality new arrivals for that to be the caseCafc43v3r said:

Its deffo a hard choice of what to do for sure with him1 -
Potentially yes and i liked washington but we all know the reasons he isnt here now and that isnt football related is it so we need to find similar for sureWeegie Addick said:

Stockley MIGHT still work in a 4-3-3, if everyone either side of and behind him somehow compensate for his lack of movement or touch1
-
Only 13 in the league though. 4 goals in the FA Cup against Havant and Gateshead, and 3 in the Pizza Cupsuperdulvertonred said:Stockley did get 20 goals despite missing a large chunk of the season with an injury and was exceptional defending set pieces and corners

Millar and Gilbey made Stockley effective last season and Gilbey is hardly Pele is he. Either Millar was exceptional, generational even, or subtle tactical changes make a massive difference......Leuth said:Stockley MIGHT still work in a 4-3-3, if everyone either side of and behind him somehow compensate for his lack of movement or touch0
