Right, into the last month of the current Third Division term with just a handful of games left in this most disappointing of seasons.
Meaningless? Well, that depends on your interpretation.

What do we expect today? Could be a goal feast but probably not. There's players' careers and certainly there's pride  at stake - and glory be, the dream of a 12th placed finish in the Third Division.

Could we even see a young player blooded that goes on to be a bedrock of our team (or probably somebody elses, don't laugh)?

What's Jacko been saying? "We can be more clinical". Carry on dreaming of a goal fest, then. No idea of the lineup except JFC played 90 mins for the 23s midweek  and we won't see Chuks and Ryan Man Mountain. In any case, the manager likes to keep the nucleus of a winning team.

Three wins on the bounce ..... can we make it 4 today?

Unchanged starting lineup. JFC on the bench.

Charlton: MacGillivray; Clare, Lavelle, Purrington; Matthews, Gilbey, Dobson, Fraser, Blackett-Taylor; Stockley (c), Washington

Subs: Harness, Famewo, Pearce, Forster-Caskey, Lee, Leko, Burstow

Charlton TV starts at 2.15.
No Scotty but Charlotte steps in to keep the lads in order - Curbs and Shirty, playoff legend Peter Shirtliff, " .....'Appen I have to play for Charton". Yorkshire lad.

End of season is the time for experimentation. Jackson playing the same XI four games running like this is what he wants for next season. Treatment of DJ and Morgan frankly disgraceful. Glad I'm not there. JFC returning is a band-aid on a bunch who will get us promoted in no reality whatsoever

Only 4 loanees in the squad & all 4 are on the bench.  No room for John it seems.

Good to see JFC on the bench, and hopefully getting some time in, thing i don't get is constantly having Burstow there, taking a space we could blood in a youngster that is actually gonna be here next year with some first team experience, rather than having another non essential unused loanee taking up  an important place..

Not proper Charlton, train spotting the only excuse
to miss a game if you’re a season ticket holder. I’ll be watching the live stream by the way 😉.

Treatment of DJ and Morgan frankly disgraceful?

Well, are they playing better than CBT or Scott Fraser for example?
Remember, Jacko sees all the players in training every day, while we think we're playing Football Manager.

    Wibble

I would agree with you over DJ and Morgan, especially as both are our players and under contract for next season.

By contrast Lee keeps getting a place on the bench despite contributing little.

They're playing better than Lee and Leko, and having both Pearce and Famewo on the bench is extremely weird.

But in your head Morgan and DJ would get us promoted? Have a day off mate.

Not necessarily, but they're skillful players you can integrate into a strong squad. Our tactic today will be Fraser to CBT, which may even work, but it's about the only footballing idea they'll have

Purrington, Lee, Leko, Gilbey, Matthews, Barstow don’t get you promoted either. Jury out on quite a few others too .

If we have serious ambitions of promotion DJ is a backup at best, Morgan should be shown the door. The Albie apologists need to move on.

Wigan now top whilst we are 14th.

I wonder who got their transfer policy right in the summer. And I wonder if those of you who said that those of us that were moaning in the summer about who was spending / recruiting who might just take  moment.

The next 4 months will shape next season. Get it right & we can be Wigan, get it wrong & we can be treading water again.

Edit. As I type Wigan now only drawing but are joint top & only second on GD

I meant my post to be light hearted, Leuthy baby - hence the smiley. Here's another:

Perhaps DJ & Albie, they're in the match day squad at Wimbledon on Tuesday?
I can see CBT being rested for that game or on the bench.

Lee & Leko are straight subs for Fraser and Washington today .... I should think it means the gameplan won't have to be altered.
Both Pearce and Famewo on the bench is "extremely weird". There will be a reason though.

There was a run of about eight games not so long ago where Morgan looked like our biggest attacking threat, and he's being scapegoated for the subsequent run of defeats. Jackson, like Bowyer before him, is not afraid to play favourites, and it'll ruin his stint here

    I doubt Morgan's being scapegoated, @Leuth

We know Albie is a decent dead ball specialist and capable of threading a killer ball.

But .... there are big holes in his game, parts of his job where he's lacking, it's often been pointed out in frustration - it's a team game don't forget and if Morgan is out of position or not tracking back, then it causes big problems to the gameplan, or even goals conceded as a direct or indirect consequence.

Anyway, back to more important matters, are you in IKEA yet?

Anyway, that run of games from Morgan turned me from a stone-cold detractor to a fan. Honestly, I couldn't see it until then, and then I could, and then he got dropped from the squad. Infuriating

Sorry leuth your knoshing off Morgan again, he was never good enough and so it has been proven. He needs to be looking elsewhere for next season.

Normally it defaults to 'General Charlton', so don't know how that happened.
Anyway, we could do with a bit of fun, especially poor old Leuth who's so upset about Albie, so I may as well leave it as it is.

Again? Earlier this season I decreed that he couldn't play for us. Then he showed otherwise. We are allowed to change outlr minds about players. When Gilbey scores another 45 goals for us I'll think about reevaluating him too
