Drove home from Cornwall today and spotted ‘Charlton Athletic FC’ displayed on a street sign style plaque mounted on a fence outside a house. It was somewhere between Camelford and Launceston, can’t be exact, was not really paying attention to the location.
Anybody on here?

Forget 'em, undoubtedly a lost cause by now. Why would we want to associate with jam first heathens?
They even make their pasties wrong and claim that they invented them. Every right thinking person knows pasties were first created in Devon.3 -

I live in Launceston, never seen this sign though, I’ll look at for it now! 😂eaststandmike said:Drove home from Cornwall today and spotted ‘Charlton Athletic FC’ displayed on a street sign style plaque mounted on a fence outside a house. Only lived here 14 months and not yet spotted another Charlton fan. I drive on the road to Camelford quite often.

You will not see it driving to Camelford as it’s on a side fence, need to keep an eye out on the way back. It’s on the left hand side of the road about head height.SWEnglandAddick said:

I have had a look on the map and I think it was nearer to Camelford around the Davidstow/Hallworthy area on the A395.SWEnglandAddick said:

How are you meant to spread jam on top of cream?2

Exactly, but its not worth trying to explain, they would rather sit there with spilt jam on the table.MrOneLung said:How are you meant to spread jam on top of cream?3 -
Shouldn't this thread be moved to teletext, I’m pretty sure the World Wide Web does not cover Cornwall.1

Steer clear of Newquay then, it's not representative of Cornwall.ct_addick said:

Padstow is nice.1 -
Newquay is the 'Blackpool of Cornwall'. If you're the young, partying and surfing type with your mates, it's right up your street.TellyTubby said:

Padstow is nice.
Beware the machine gun water pistols!
Padstow is nice ..... but in high summer pretty crowded with the Hooray Henry's on their jolly hols.
Beware the Chelsea tractor coming at you in the narrow streets.
I'm not very helpful, am I?
Seriously, around the Roseland peninsular is nice, not far from Truro/Falmouth.
Perhaps around the Lizard, Helston and towards Marazion.
It gets pretty busy in the coastal towns during summer/high season - but inland it's quieter.
And of course, Cornwall itself being a peninsula, you're never far from the sea.

Though I have long since emigrated across the Tamar, whenever we come back we always stay in and arounf Penzance (Mousehole, Marazion, or over in The Lizard). Largely untarnished by the rampant commercialisation of the North Coast, you can still find some of the best restaurants in the county, walk the headland/coastal paths in relative peace outside of peak season, and enjoy the best Cornwall has to offer.1

I too drove past this sign today, it's in Pipers Pool I believe. Did we ever find out if it's anyone on here?SWEnglandAddick said:

Truro is good for both coasts and easy to tour around from there, quite a nice little city centre, close to pretty much everywhere in West Cornwall, Falmouth is pretty good....Newquay I personally feel has gone downhill.ct_addick said:Hi Cornish Addicks....Will be visiting the UK from USA this summer and will be going to Cornwall to celebrate my 60th with my kids....I say kids but they are 28 and 30 now with their partners.....I know Newquay area from my younger days but can anyone recommend a town where there are nice restaurants and pubs with close proximity to nice beaches....my brother recommends Marazion ?1
