" Our Ben".
That's how I'll always think of this very special young man who first touched the lives of the Charlton family just 2 months ago but who will be forever in our hearts.
His wonderful smile did indeed light up the room & I know that his star will shine the brightest tonight in the evening sky.
This cruel world has lost one of the bravest, most precious souls we shall ever meet.
And will be a far poorer place without "Our Ben".
Thank you for letting us share your amazing son, dear Sharon & Garry, albeit for a short time.
Please know that we're here for you when you need us - we ARE family.64 -
Really gutted, love to all friends and family. RIP Ben.1

So sad to to hear this news. I never knowingly met Ben but my thoughts go out to all those that knew 'our Ben' personally. Life can be tough at times and for Ben's family and friends now is that time. Always in our hearts, always an Addick. Rip Ben2

I'm really gutted. I cried at the minutes applause. My daughter's a few years older than Ben. She wrote a card to him for Christmas after @Fanny Fanackapan brought his situation to our attention, from both of us. She was trying to put a positive spin in how Ben had done so much in the last few months. But it's still gutting, Ben - you deserved more time. I know none of us can give you that, and that's what's really cruel about it.
RIP Ben Jay, thanks for your positivity and your smile. My sincerest condolences to Garry and Sharon and all the other people touched by Ben.
RIP fellow Addick, we always win at The Valley in the sky.

Ben, what extraordinary courage you showed young man - always smiling through in every photo I saw posted - you are a true inspiration and a very, very special Charlton fan - may you now rest in peace.

Also cried at the minutes applause. Never knew Ben only because Fanny brought his story to our attention through the christmas card ask. I started when I saw Tracey comforting the family. Nothing can make their pain better but the kindness of our club is remarkable.10

I'd not been on here for a while and was unaware of his passing, until it was announced at yesterday's game. I don't mind admitting to feeling emotional during the applause.3

A lovely young man who generated so much love and affection. RIP Ben.1

Northstandsteve,
Thank you so much for the amazing flag you have done for our son Ben's funeral, it is absolutely perfect for him.
He would be so proud to have that. We plan to have some of his close mates carry that ahead of the procession.
Thanks again,
Love Garry & Sharon xx65 - Sponsored links:

Does Ben’s family live in Plumstead? I walked past this on a local house today. I assume it is for Ben? Anyway I thought it was lovely.

Sorry I have not been on here for a while, still struggling to come to terms with losing our Ben to such a cruel disease.
Yes this is our house where Ben lived all his life. One of the parents of the school I work at asked if she could tie a red & white bow for Ben, & it just took off. It has brightened up our road & showed us what a great community we have in Plumstead.
Glad Charlton are now safe & we look forward to them rising up the league very soon COYR.
Love to all
