What’s the point in that? Not even significant enough for Chelsea to announce him as a deadline day signing?0

You realise if he plays now and scores goals, he'll be off in the summer too? Lol, this is the way of the food chain. It will keep happening the longer we spend down here outside of the Championship (in reality, the Premier League if you look at Fulham trying to get a loan back deal out of Liverpool for one of their young players today).
get rid of Davison and give Kanu a contract for 5 years with hefty buy out clause
bottom half - no but would be in an ideal world0 -
being at work I can not open the twitter links can someone post a pic of the tweet please !!0

Says deal done but no announcement tonight1

I really don't get why there has to be a badie in everything. Sky, the agent, the player, the buying club, the owner, the tea lady.
This is not a case of anyone doing anything wrong. The player will have received an offer he would have been stupid to say no to, the owner will have received an offer he is happy to accept.
We have probably covered the cost of the academy for the next 2 or 3 years. It hasn't cost us promotion, it almost certainly (after tonight's result) cost us relegation.
But someone needs to be blamed 🤷♂️Of course teenagers are going to get their heads turned by that amount of money and in the case of the top clubs, how many of them actually establish themselves as first team players? So effectively a football player who doesn’t really end up playing competitive football can just be paid £20k a week. System is a shambles and for that, blame can be dished out.9 -
I thought he was bang average.5

Couldn't book the open top bus parade until the morning.

Surely it's pointless as if anyone plays a couple of good games in the first team they are off. Most youth team players just leave because their not good enough and the average stay at Cafc.
So our best young talent leaves after a dozen games and this pays for the journeymen players that we purchase.
I hate Chelsea. They give Mason a six week trial in 2020 and consider he isn't Good enough. He comes to Cafc via Maidstone.
Now Mason scores again Fleetwood and Crewe and they want him.
If the rumoured figures are true, this is a great bit of business.
You don't poach players from conference south teams ?
Aren't Maidstone part time ? Was Burstow on a contract at Maidstone ?
Yes I know Mason wasn't at Cafc for long.
Lookman, Aribo and Mason all joined CAFC with a view to using Cafc as a springboard at about 15 and 16 but I still feel gutted every time they leave.5 -

Lucky Burstow doesn't seem like a lad with an ego. Can you imagine signing a big contract with a top 6 club and their response is essentially, can't be arsed to put an announcement out as this is too insignificant0

Wouldn't complain if we keep managing to sign talented 15-16 year olds and selling them on at a profit at 18, 19, 20.
Key thing is using the money well if it does happen.3 -
I don’t see the big deal to be honest. The club are happy we’ve got a substantial fee.It doesn’t feel like a Parker or Gomez situation. He’s had a few good performances and now he’s off to a top 4 club for a big fee.Reminds me of Carl Jenkinson to Arsenal.14

Edit: Now someone else has spotted the typo and changed it. I copied and pasted, and posted it direct from their site when I originally posted.

Possibly even poyet too?
a lad who has come in and done well, but mostly in cup games but we’ll enough in the league- shame he won’t be here but don’t see him being someone ready to push on for our first team properly next season for a promotion push0 -
This looks to be a reasonably accurate summary of how Chelsea use the loan system to create a regular revenue stream. Interestingly in the summer 31 players also left Chelsea permanently, some big transfers, but many rather obscure frees, eg. Jack Wakely, a 21 year old defender who went on a free to Wycombe. That Wikipedia page shows the first team squad of 29 players but does not list the U23 or U18 squads, so I'm not quite sure the list of loans fully covers younger Chelsea players on loan.
I'm not particularly criticising anyone at Charlton for this situation and certainly not Burstow. Nor am I quite sure what I would criticise Chelsea for here, even though I hate them and especially Abramovic and look forward to Liz Truss closing them down. What i think the above shows is what the obscene concentration of money within the FAPL has resulted in, including the way EPPP has been set up.
One thing to note though is that the incoming FIFA rule changes on loans would clip their wings a bit, which makes it all the more puzzling why Chelsea think it's worth diving in like this at the last minute.
And it is an inconvenient truth that Mason, like Joe Aribo and Lookman, wasn't an academy product anyway.

Part of me thinks good luck to him. Part of me thinks of Meire and come to Charlton to ‘see the next stars of the premier league’. But blink and you’ve missed it.2

We know we are going to be shafted, I just hope we didn’t just bend over and drop our trousers.

Players like Blackman and Baker don't get a gun pointed at their heads and made to sign new deals. Players like Moses, KDB, Salah even Dasilva, Abraham, Loftus-Cheek have a career that reflects their ability. Parker did, despite the narrative he didn't. It was a broken leg and change of manager that stunted him, not the move its self.
Chelsea have a model, the same as Brighton, Brentford and Peterborough have. That many want us to emulate. The numbers are just much bigger.
In real terms it's no different to the model we do operate. Players from Enfield, Maidstone, Staines hopefully sold for a profit.
I am sure that there are Enfield fans that accused Davison of coming to us for the money and moaned when we sent him out on loan 3 times.1 -
PWR - A academy coach I know who is reasonably well connected at Chelsea (doesn’t work there) reckons it’s 4m plus add ons14
