He's not that youngwmcf123 said:Maybe let’s get behind him. Lots of young players aren’t ready at his age - let’s will him
to succeed. In my view, he’s getting a tougher ride than some other
players of far greater experience. I am
not denying that he’s been poor but he’s had good games in the past and can be good again.
He gets an easier ride than most because he's from the academy
He's had plenty of chances5 -

He's had good games yes but not that many and not very consistently over extended periods. The poor games outnumber the good by a fair difference now.wmcf123 said:Maybe let’s get behind him. Lots of young players aren’t ready at his age - let’s will him

We don't have the luxury of keeping hoping that he might possibly eventually come good if it's at the expense of players with a higher ceiling and/or a better "average" of performance.0 -
Sadly imho he is simply not good enough, Adkins gave him the 10 shirt and backed him. Look how that turned out. Not really sure he can make the grade at our level let alone step up if we get promoted.

Well if we draw Liverpool in a future round I'm expecting a Morgan hattrick now.Kap10 said:

No pressure or anything Albie. As you were.4 -

I think that's the frustration tbh.mendonca said:We run the risk of over scrutinising him at the moment. We've won our last few games, he hasn't featured in them. We don't really need him in the 1st 11 at the moment.
So many of us want to see him do well and kick on.2 -

He’s received a far easier ride because he is ‘one of ours’ than a new buy would receive.wmcf123 said:Maybe let’s get behind him. Lots of young players aren’t ready at his age - let’s will him

Don’t get all this cut our loses and move Albie on talk, I agree he hasn’t fulfilled the promise he showed when he first came on the scene and he should have progressed more but at best he’s a squad player and I doubt if there’s better players out there who would be prepared to Join us to just get the occasional game not always in their preferred role and sometimes not even make the match day squad so I believe we would be silly to let him go.0

What is his preferred role?Bournesnr said:Don’t get all this cut our loses and move Albie on talk, I agree he hasn’t fulfilled the promise he showed when he first came on the scene and he should have progressed more but at best he’s a squad player and I doubt if there’s better players out there who would be prepared to Join us to just get the occasional game not always in their preferred role and sometimes not even make the match day squad so I believe we would be silly to let him go.
That's not the question though is it. The actual question is is Morgan ever going to be good enough to be a first team player? If not why give him a dozen games when you could give them to someone else that might be. Like Vennings, Henry or A.N.Other.2 -
Surely the management would know if Vennings or Henry were ready and would pick them accordingly. At this moment in time I can’t believe anybody who is better would join us to be a bit part player, he may never be good enough to be a regular first teamer but every squad needs players as backup and it stands to reason they’re not going to be as good as first teamers. I think he is a more than adequate squad player.0

But when he plays, he’s adding nothing to the team ,.. therefore not adequate.Bournesnr said:Surely the management would know if Vennings or Henry were ready and would pick them accordingly. He’s played 80+ games , not 8. If he’s not 1st choice by now it tells it’s own story.0

Playing Devil's advocate there, but this season until 3 league games ago almost everyone looked shite at times.
I think we're all in a similar place. We want him to progress, but it looks more unlikely every game now4 -

Same time a lot of those are now playing well but a handful aren’t still, hmmmDazzler21 said:Playing Devil's advocate there, but this season until 3 league games ago almost everyone looked shite at times.

Always a handful, then dissapoints so replaced with somebody who might have more chance of delivering.wmcf123 said:

This season saw quite a number of consecutive starts in a fixed position.1 -

And when the team got good results under Bowyer and Adkins last season, he wasn't in the team. Performances under Jackson have improved and yet again, he's not in the team.wmcf123 said:

Right now, he's not good enough. And he doesn't deserve to play over those that are, just because he MIGHT improve.4 -

He’s had plenty of chances and never looked like fulfilling his potential. Nothing to do with managers anymore. If he was good enough he’d be 1st choice by now. He isn’t anywhere near that.wmcf123 said:

In our good run in last season he played in 9 of our last 15 games. So not true he didn't play in our good spell under Adkins.
I don't think he should be anywhere near our first 11, but I'd like to see him on the bench in some league matches soon. He is not a central midfielder in a flat 4. I'd hope he could play a Cullen role in a diamond or 4231. That may not work, but I can't see him do anything else to a level that would work top L1 or champ. It does seem this season was his last chance, a shame he played in an utterly incompetent midfield and it's damaged him.1 -

Of those 9 how many did he start? 2? 3?ColinTat said:In our good run in last season he played in 9 of our last 15 games. So not true he didn't play in our good spell under Adkins.

How many did he impact off the bench? One is the answer. Of all the games Morgan has played he started all the games he played well in, bar one.
Most young players make an impression off the bench and force themselves in the team, bar the game JFC did his ACL, I have never seen Morgan do that. Happy to be factually correct but that's the impression I get.

. Doh! why can't you just delete a comment without having to make a point..

I have to admit that I can’t recall many games, if any, where he has really stood out.
I don’t think he’s a bad player by any means - but I simply just don’t notice him most of the time he’s on the pitch. I’ve seen him play live many times, but often forget he’s there 🤷♂️0 -
Really poor tonight. Thought this would be his chance to prove himself1

I find it interesting that Bowyer was basically right about everyone he criticised.9

Said it before that we need to get Morgan a league 2 loan in January, we'd be mad to not try and get him somewhere and see what he can do on a regular basis. It might even be the final kick up the arse he needs as if he doesn't do well on loan then it'll be time for him to move on in the summer.
Ultimately though he's played almost 100 games and i'm not sure anyone knows his best position. He's not a defensive midfielder, he's not box-to-box, he's not a wide player who can beat a man and get a cross in, he's not someone who will arrive late in the area and finish a chance and his shooting which still sticks in my mind from that 0-0 against Sheffield wednesday is terrible.
He might make a good pass once every 2-3 games but realistically where does he fit into a side who are aiming to get promotion out of this league?13 -
Who in League Two is going to take him after watching performances like last night against Orient’s youth team and in the FA Cup vs sixth tier opposition at the weekend? He is being given plenty of chances, and those are against teams that he should be dominating.
If he’s waiting for a loan that never comes, he may end up wasting his career. No better place to turn it around than at Sparrows Lane at this point.0
