Was going to say him as well but couldn't remember how to spell his name. Perry was great for us and Baresi was the man when I was a kid and you never noticed his lack of height. The Red Robin said:

Chris Perry? Franco Baresi?Southbank said:
He is too short for a centre back and not fast enough as a fullbackorpingtonRED said:
Barker is a player to bleed in in my opinion.Southbank said:
Clayden might get 10 minutes now and again. Who else do you think could help us win games this season? Nobody I have seen yet for sure.orpingtonRED said:
We have a few good youth players.Southbank said:

Pretty much. If we don't take 5 loans then we are putting a lot of trust in our youngsters in this league.ISawLeaburnScore said:
We definitely should not feel obliged to use 5 loans just because we can have up to 5 loans in a matchday squad.ForeverAddickted said:
At this time of the night I cant see Lavelle and two loans coming in.orpingtonRED said:
Got to assume we will take 2 loaness then unless Adkins has told those above that he's happy to bleed in our youngsters.ForeverAddickted said:
Two slots leftorpingtonRED said:We aint even taken our full quota of loans have we?
I won't argue if that's the plan.
Its a frustrating / bitter sweet scenario if we dont fill our quota as towards the end of the season there were a lot of complaints about people getting fed up of us signing five loans each summer as we need to build our own squad
So its good we've reduced our quota at the present.
But we still need a Left-Back
However, we are going to end up obliged to use 5 loans because we don't have a sufficient number of senior players under permanent contract.
Would fans be happy us playing them in a tough L1?
Adkins might be thinking its the way forward.1 -
Did you see Jaiyesimi’s goal on Saturday?ISawLeaburnScore said:
I think the LB situation is baffling. Without even contemplating the position with Roddy or any of the situation behind that, I have no idea why we can't reasonably expect to have two left backs with a professional appearance between them at the club - particularly when our two right backs are one-footed and we don't have an obvious centre half or midfielder who can drop in there. This is before any consideration of Purrington's injury.Rothko said:It’s like people need something to hang their anger on, and a left back signing is it
Still wouldn’t mind an attack minded LB though.1 -

Barker comes in at Right-Back?Talal said:
What happens if the right back gets injured while the back up right back is filling in at left back?Rothko said:
No it’s not, it’s nothing like that, having stability at centre half is crucial to the spine of a team, having to deal with a right footed left back is an inconvenience, not a deal breaker.Leeds_Addick said:
People said this about the CB situation in January and it turned out to be very "not fine". Gunter has been pretty terrible there, Crewe game aside.Rothko said:
Purrington with Gunter as back up for me is fine, it’s the not the reason we won’t get promoted, and the Roddy stuff is just a bunch of people with sand in their privates, who are desperate for something to blame.ISawLeaburnScore said:

Clayden not good enough yet from the little I have seen of him. CBT completely unproven and only 4 months. Could send Clayden to non league on loan now assuming can be done after the window?Valley11 said:Leko is a weird one.
Kirk, DJ, CBT, Clayden. Do we need another winger?0 -

CBT isn't. Our two are but you need more than 2 over a season especially when they will get kicked to pieces and DJ needs a rest more often.cafcfan1990 said:

I don't think you've been paying attention. We've not "done most of our business already". We are still 5 or 6 players short of what is needed & dome players we've brought in (Clare & Dodson) are average League 1 players. And we've still not replaced last seasons top goal scorer.TeeC said:

There’s a CB about to be signed. So I make it 2 short, do you not think you’re being a tad dramatic?

Not signing a left back in this window is the same as not signing a centre back in the Jan window, leaves us so thin, threadbare and vulnerable to injuries in that area.
I just don't understand how it now looks like we're not going to sign anyone in that area.22 -

Just home from the game at The Valley filled with positivity after watching a seriously fast & skillful Corey Blackett-Taylor tear the Crawley defence apart in the first 45 mins .....what a player he will be for us against L1 opposition remains to be seen but I'm excited !
But he wasn't the only positive from tonight.
I've not been overly impressed with young Josh Davison when I've seen glimpses of him in the past but he was a different player tonight. He imposed himself from start to finish, was very strong & faster than I remember ...plus he can find the net !
Deji Mk2 was imperious again - what a player he's going to be ! - Clayden was excellent, Harness was never troubled, Rob's boy showed again what an acquisition he is & Dobson won me over showing what he's capable of, working his socks off in the process.
And then there was our newest addition to the first team, young Mason Burstow ....watch this space !
So, with, I understand another defender due to arrive from sunny Morecambe, and with several lads due to return from injury, I'm not too concerned by the depth of our squad & I'm certainly not wearing any rose coloured contact lenses.
In fact, you might even say that the infamous Tingle is on its way back....( famous last words !)

I think we have enough wingers-cum-strikers. Lee is about the best one of these & it might be hard enough to squeeze him into the side atm. So its a no from me.mattinfinland said:I'd take Leko in league one, Cheers Bowyer!
So even if we sign Leko we will still be "5 or 6 short"!3 -
Lavelle & leko + sign a free agent attacking lb over next few days who has just left or leaving/negotiating release from a club would be ideal17

agreed and adkins did that as well so not that surprised if we don't sign another LB although ideally a pacy marauding left back as well would have been a good additionCovered End said:

and we are up shit creek without a wooden implement if Stockley gets injured.1
