I even asked him the Brentford question at Bromley Addicks, and he said we weren't, that's despite there being lots to admire at Brentford3

It's OK Nigel, we know what you're trying to say 😂
’mate he’s been playing fortnite for most of the last 18 months, was laboured even before that, better suited to antiques roadshow than football these days. Even in our bomb squad, we’d honestly pay 100k for somebody to take him away and get him spayed’
Doesn’t seem like he’s especially popular up there!Good pedigree historically but have to say I’d rather we were getting a younger hungry player than another on their way outer… but we are desperate.
mate he absolutely mustard!! People say he’s been playing fortnite but it’s actually mariokart. But it hasn’t put him off his football. Heard forest feel guilty for getting Lyle so want to do us a favour. He’ll rip it up in league 1.I hope Ive given balance to subject.👍5 -
Scoham said:Any rumours around how many we're looking to sign? A CM (seems Arter is done or very close), a striker and a left back are a must.
A back up keeper and another winger would be good to have.Centre back is an interesting one, with the amount of game time Deji is getting I don’t expect us to sign one, but if Inniss picks up a long term injury it’s a lot of pressure on him. Is he on a pro contract?
On unrealistic signings an attacking right back would be good but that seems very unlikely to happen with Matthews and Gunter here.
Famewo, however, wasn’t a disaster at right centre back last season though and we do have Gunter who can play there as well. I think they’ll spend their remaining budget in other areas and run with Deji until January knowing we do have options if he starts to struggle. If he’s not coping and Innis isn’t reliable enough fitness wise we’ll look to bring someone in in January.1 -
Arter is done. Not been announced yet but deffo done.3

Unrelated comment but i’m watching MOTD… and it’s pretty hard / painful watching Conor score for Palarse11

Signing 31 years olds ain't the "Brentford way," Thomas.
Did not know that. Can you provide those repeated quotes in a link here? Would like to read them.
In February he confirmed his instinct is to keep the academy:Asked if Charlton could follow in the Bees’ footsteps, Sandgaard said: “My gut instinct about this is that I’d rather be smarter about how we develop our academy players than totally get rid of it.
“Now the transfer window is closed we’ve got time to look at our structure and how we maximise it.”
In December he talked about admiring Brentford but not doing everything the same way.

Q: You have outlined a very ambitious target to get to the Premier League. How do you plan to succeed where many Championship clubs have failed, even with parachute money?
TS: To me, it’s not about parachute money or anything like that. It’s just about being smart about it, and creating a foundation so that we have the right kinds of players, are smart about what players we buy, what players we put out on loan, what players we sell. If we start today, in a few years we might have some really great talent coming up from the academy. It’s about grooming all those parts, and improving the odds and the probability. It’s not one smart move or the flick of a switch. I’m not sure I’m going to do everything the same way, but what they’ve done over at Brentford, with very little money, is very impressive.
Last season Brentford signed Winston Reid on loan, he was 32 at the time - so there are even occasions when Brentford don't do things the "Brentford way".

I can confirm We are definitely pursuing becoming a Cat 1 Academy. Our academy is what has kept us going over the years and being in the South London hotbed means there aremore out there. We are also coming under pressure from other clubs nabbing kids from our areas hence category one is essential35

He also got an international cap for Ireland in June, although it was only a few minutes in a friendly.1 -

For a defensive midfielder, he has done an ok job. For me he has been our best midfielder this season.Dobson will play a big part this season.. enjoy your week glued to Charlton Life!2

They have all told me that Arter is going to sign for us.
Am I now on the In the know list.2 -
I’ve thought about Arter and truth be told, I don’t know what to make of it.
On the plus side, I think we all automatically get excited when we link with a player who’s name and pedigree we recognise. There is no doubt he’s had top level quality and SHOULD be a class above L1 on the ball and improve us.
But on the flip side, the feedback from recent years is poor, his injury record is mixed, I’ve read he’s prone to a behind scenes fall out and career wise he’s definitely on the dip. And we were all disappointed last year with Watson which was a similar signing, Looking at last season, he played 90 mins just 3 times, and only 800-odd mins in 13 months.
On balance, I think he’ll improve us. But I understand others caution.29 -
In the sun today both Tucker and Dempsey wanted by us let's hope we push the boat out and get them24

I regularly see the development at the p*l*ce academy and it is very impressive. Despite the smell. It’s tremendously heartening to see us try to compete as the catchment for them would easily encroach into our traditional talent base and worried me each time I saw it.4 -

Dempsey on top of Arter starts to feel a bit like overkill in the midfield unless we definitely aren’t seeing any more of JFC or things are worse than feared with Gilbey’s recovery? Or maybe Albie gets a loan?
I very much believe Lee has been brought in to be that extra goal getter and will be shocked if another striker arrives at this point.
Left back is the glaring omission. I am getting more and more concerned about that one. Surely they don’t think we can get through a season with Matthews, Gunter and Purrington as our only full back options?
Assuming Arter is a done deal, here is my list for the last couple of days of the window…
Must have: left back
Would be nice: right sided centre back
Would be surprised: goalkeeper, striker, midfielder
1 -
Be shocked if we bring in a second Goalkeeper before the window closes based on Adkins words
I know its not you Callum, but does make me smile as saw a few comments on twitter yesterday about us having too much in Midfield now - First Sandgaard was skint and didnt have the money that we thought he did - Now its... "We've got too many Midfielders"14 -

Well Arter could be coming until January, or to be involved until the squad is complete.2

Given the source is our good pal Mr Nixon I don't know what to make of it. Would be a bit of a statement to get both of them. Left back and striker as the other loans then which wouldn't bother me too much.4 -

there is a LOT of work going on behind the scenes in the quest for Cat 1 status so hopefully it all gets there

We have no-one capable of replacing Stockley when he's knackered or injured.
Absolutely need to replace Chuks.18
