    RIP

I think one of the biggest compliments that Derek Hales ever had was when the late Brian Moore compared his finishing to Gerd Muller.

    what a player.

    Brought Bayern Munich to prominence
  • He was probably one of the best finishers football has ever had. When I was a kid it seemed most of us tried to do his volleying technique.
I read years ago that once his football career finished he had nothing to fall back on and was living in rough conditions, Bayern did something about this when it was brought to their attention.

I was always Muller when my brother was in goal! Rest in peace
  • What a player he was. Unarguably world class.

    Ruhe in Frieden
  • Two incredible stats stand out.

    1. In 1972 he scored 85 goals in 60 games for club and country. Messi beat his record with 91 goals in a calendar year, but he played 69 games.
    2. He scored 68 goals in 62 internationals!

One of the best strikers of all time.
  • An amazing footballer. RIP

Mad really as if he was around today he'd be worth about 200m and earn 500k a week.

Got to include the stat that Lewandowski has only just beaten?

Wasnt that most goals scored in a single Bundesliga season

    RIP my favourite overseas player
  • Strong, chunky-thighed with a low centre of gravity.
Such a unique and deadly striker.

    What a player.

  • Very sad news.
Did for us in 1970, but I forgave him and in 1973 when I started playing for Old Sedcopians I bought a pair of Adidas Gerd Muller moulded sole football boots.
    Lasted me for years.
    Thanks Gerd. RIP.
